#54 Northwestern Wildcats: College Basketball 111 in 111

Welcome to The Sports Bank’s second annual college basketball season preview series.  Last year we looked at 99 teams in 99 days.  This year, we are being slightly more aggressive and expanding to 111 teams in 111 days.  We will rank the 74 power conference teams and top 37 mid-majors in reverse power ranking order.  We’ll break down rosters, non-conference schedules, and pick a player to watch for each team.

The Northwestern Wildcats have the dancing ability of Elaine from Seinfeld.  The main difference between the two; at least Elaine has actually danced before.  Northwestern has still never played in the NCAA Tournament although they have flirted with being a bubble team the past three seasons.  That should once again be the case in 2011-2012.

OFFICIAL 2011 NBA Draft Early Entries

The May 8th deadline for college basketball underclassmen to either announce they are returning to school or staying in the NBA Draft for good has past.  There were some very questionable and surprising decisions.  Check out The Sports Bank’s 2011 NBA Mock Draft and click on the player’s name for an in-depth scouting report.

Northwestern’s John Shurna Declares for NBA Draft, No Agent

Northwestern Wildcats junior forward John Shurna declared for the 2011 NBA Draft but hasn’t hired an agent. He’s eligible to return to NU for his senior year if he withdraws by May 8th.

“This is an exciting opportunity for John and I fully support his decision,” Northwestern head coach Bill Carmody said in a statement. “It’s a chance for him to pursue his dream and we look forward to helping him gather information throughout the process.”
