The Georgia Bulldogs are heavy favorites in the bowl formerly known as the Citrus Bowl. But maybe the line will shift more towards the favor of the Nebraska Cornhuskers now that the Dawgs will be missing one of their top guns on defense.

Vanderbilt to see three Commodores taken in NBA Draft

john-jenkins

With three players set to get picked in the NBA Draft next week, you may be asking yourself how did the Vanderbilt Commodores not win more NCAA Tournament games the past couple years? Why weren’t they ranked higher? What was their coaching staff doing? John Jenkins, Festus Ezeli and Jeffrey Taylor are all in the same projected draft range.

“I think we’re all in the same boat, in that late first round, early second, we’re all different positions,” said Jenkins at the NBA combine a couple weeks ago.

NBA Draft: Where Do The Charlotte Bobcats Go From Here?

Michael Jordan

The Charlotte Bobcats could not have had a worse season. Actually, if winning 7 of 66 games isn’t embarrassing enough, it would be even more embarrassing if the Bobcats didn’t end up getting the #1 pick in the June draft. This team has a lot of improving to do and it starts with cleaning house.

Thanks to some pesky defense against the #5 Vanderbilt Commodores, the #4 Wisconsin Badgers are Boston bound for their second trip to the Sweet 16 in the last two years.

Threes were flying from everywhere with the Badgers shooting a total of 33 shots from beyond the arc. They connected on ten of them, including three a-piece for guards Ben Brust and Jordan Taylor in a 60-57 win.

Next up for the Badgers is a date with the #1 Syracuse Orange-Men who played excellent zone defense in their defeat of Kansas State in the round of 32. [Read more…]

vandy cheerleaders

Welcome to The Sports Bank’s second annual college basketball season preview series.  Last year we looked at 99 teams in 99 days.  This year, we are being slightly more aggressive and expanding to 111 teams in 111 days.  We will rank the 74 power conference teams and top 37 mid-majors in reverse power ranking order.  We’ll break down rosters, non-conference schedules, and pick a player to watch for each team.

With John Jenkins, Jeffery Taylor, and Festus Ezeli all electing to return to school rather than bolt for the NBA Draft, the Vanderbilt Commodores became a top ten team in the country since they return all five starters and eight of their top nine players.  Vandy will have to live without Ezeli for the non-conference slate but could be a Final Four contender once they are at full strength.
