#25 Wisconsin faces a stiff test with the Michigan State defense

Unbeaten in their last 21 home games are the Wisconsin Badgers who feel they are back on track as one of the Big Ten’s elite teams after dominating wins overs Purdue and Minnesota.

What the Boilermakers and Gophers do not have, but the visiting Michigan State Spartans do is a legitimate defense.

If Michigan State had a business card, it would say “DEFENSE” in big bold letters and nothing else because it’s all they really need to keep a game close. But will their defense be enough to pull the ever-so rare upset at Camp Randall?

Wisconsin’s Montee Ball leads an offensive renaissance in demolition of Purdue

It only took seven games, but the Wisconsin Badgers finally returned to the offensive dominance they displayed over the past couple of years. The running game was unstoppable with 467 yards on 57 carries in a 38-14 win at Purdue.

Montee Ball looked like the player everyone thought he was coming into the season while racking up a career high 247 yards on 29 carries and three touchdowns.

Ball is now the owner of the Big Ten’s all-time rushing touchdown record with 72, surpassing the great Ron Dayne. [Read more…]

Wisconsin Badgers vs. Purdue Boilermakers: Brutally Honest Preview

In order to evaluate the status of a team, sometimes it’s best to look at their coach’s record in conference play.

Wisconsin Badgers coach Bret Bielema owns a 34-16 record in Big Ten Conference play while the Purdue Boilermakers Danny Hope has a 10-15 record. Hope has aspirations to go in the direction Bielema has taken the Badgers and it all begins with a critical game in West Lafayette this weekend.

Meanwhile, Bielema looks to maintain the Badgers recent dominance against the Boilermakers; six straight wins and four straight at Purdue’s Ross-Ade Stadium (last loss back in 1997).

Wisconsin Badgers go all defensive in a 31-14 win over the Fighting Illini

Madison, Wisconsin was the setting for a prototypical Big Ten match-up on Saturday as the Wisconsin Badgers defensively outlasted the Illinois Fighting Illini by the score of 31-14.

A cold and balmy day set the stage for a game that was rather ugly with both teams combining to go 7-of-26 on third downs and each committing two turnovers.

But it was the Badgers (4-2, 1-1) who survive to see another day in what has become a very confusing race in the Big Ten’s Leaders Division.

Wisconsin Badgers vs. #22 Nebraska Cornhuskers: Brutally Honest Preview

Excitement, mystery and revenge are just a few of the words that can be used to describe the start of the conference season for the Wisconsin Badgers and Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Both teams look to move forward from what was a disappointing non-conference slate from not only their-selves, but the entire Big Ten conference as a whole.

The Badgers are still searching for their offensive identity and the Huskers still have a bad taste in their mouth from the 48-17 drubbing Wisconsin handed them to open the conference season in Madison last year.

Taking a look at the Wisconsin Badgers Quarterback Carousel

Following the Wisconsin Badgers’ Thursday practice, head coach Bret Bielema officially announced that the team will start freshman Joel Stave at quarterback in the upcoming game with UTEP.

It’s not the only thing Bielema said as he also mentioned playing all three of the Badgers’ quarterbacks in different situations.

For a team searching for it’s identity in the offense, the last thing they need to be doing is going back-and-forth between different signal callers. [Read more…]

Wisconsin Badgers vs. UTEP: Brutally Honest Preview

At the center of a struggling Wisconsin Badgers’ offense lies a quarterback controversy. Will the Badgers (2-1) head  coach, Bret Bielema, go with redshirt freshman Joel Stave or stick with the experienced Danny O’Brien?

While Bielema has said he already knows who he’s sending out on Saturday morning, the University of Texas El-Paso probably doesn’t care as they are hoping a third time’s the charm. This is the Miners (1-2) third shot at an upset of a BCS-conference team after falling short to Oklahoma and Ole Miss in their first two games.
