Offense was the story in South Bend on Saturday, as Tommy Rees the “Game Manager” became Tommy Rees “the Touchdown slinger.”

Notre Dame reeled off 42 first half points thanks in large part to four passing touchdowns from their quarterback in route to a 59-33 shellacking of the Air Force Academy in a game that was not even as close as the already lopsided outcome would suggest.

Rees had trouble missing his targets as he connected on 23 of 32 passes for just under 300 yards and four touchdowns.

Notre Dame and Northwestern Announce Home and Home Series

Northwestern and Notre Dame, two schools that first met in college football 1889, are renewing their rivalry in 2014. The announcement came this morning on ESPN’s Mike & Mike in the Morning radio show today by Mike Greenberg, a Northwestern alum, and Mike Golic, a Notre Dame alum.

The Wildcats last played the Fighting Irish in 1995, winning a massive upset that kicked off that magical Rose Bowl season. They’ll travel to South Bend on Nov. 15, 2014 and then the Fighting Irish will visit Ryan Field during the 2018 season.

Viva la Sun Bowl! Notre Dame vs Miami: Game preview

Only few would have properly predicted the location of the old west Texas town of El Paso for the reunion, but nonetheless, the famed Notre Dame/Miami rivalry reignites on New Year’s Eve near the Mexican border.

Bowl games are a great reward for the teams as the players and coaches get to enjoy a few days of activities and events leading up to the game, but once the ball is kicked, no one will care that Coach Kelly took the team shopping for new boots.

Yes, that did happen.

Both teams thought they were set at the quarterback position going into the season, but entering the bowl game, that is not the case for either squad.

Jacory Harris has been wildly inconsistent all season, and the injury to the Irish’s Dayne Crist has thrust untested Tommy Rees into more action his freshman year than anyone anticipated.
