NY Islanders: early season dominance fading away

All good things come to an end.

It’s a little dramatic but I’m purposely exaggerating what’s been going on with the Islanders since the second period of last Saturday’s home matinee against the St. Louis Blues. By the end of the first period, the Islanders were up 3-0 and it appeared their November dominance was not going to be halted in December. I mean, the Blues are one of the best teams in a western conference that looks unbeatable right now. But that’s exactly it-

the Islanders became complacent and the final 40 minutes was all Blues, all the time in a 6-4 loss.

Final 2012 Mock NHL Entry Draft

 

While the Los Angeles Kings, and their millions of fans who just jumped on the bandwagon, celebrate the team’s first Stanley Cup championship, the other 29 teams in the league are gearing up for next season.  The top priority of these teams:  the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.  The draft takes place June 22 and 23 from Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA.  With the Edmonton Oilers winning the draft lottery, they will select the first pick for the third straight year, the first time since the Quebec Nordiques of 1989-91.  Who will the Oilers take?
