Even with a new coach at the helm, the Wisconsin Badgers football program put forth another successful National Signing Day with one of their best classes ever.

With the departure of Bret Bielema to Arkansas, the Badgers thoughtfully hired Gary Andersen and made recruiting the first priority of the new regime.

The 2013 class is headlined by four-star running back Corey Clement and JUCO  transfer quarterback Tanner McEvoy.

Gary Andersen not a great hire, but a good hire for the Wisconsin Badgers

Who is Gary Andersen?

He’s the coach who earlier this season was a missed field goal away from becoming the first non-conference opponent to knock off  the Wisconsin Badgers at Camp Randall in a very long time.

The 48 year-old Andersen will become the Head Coach of the Badgers after coaching at Utah State where he accumulated a 26-24 record over four years.

He’s not the big name or a UW alum many fans were hoping for, but he is a defensive-minded coach that should fit right within the culture at Wisconsin. [Read more…]
