Notre Dame and the ACC: I called this two years ago

Notre-Dame-football

Editor’s note: I originally published this on December 29th, 2011. Looks like I saw the future a few months ahead:

As Notre Dame prepares to kick off versus Florida State today in the Champs Sports Bowl, the answer to where ND fits in the long term conference expansion is becoming painfully obvious. The Irish will face their fourth ACC opponent, and look to go 4-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Is Urban Meyer Good For The Big Ten?

urban-meyer

From the time  it was announced that Jim Tressel would be leaving Ohio State, one man had been on the minds of not just the Buckeye faithful, but all of the Big Ten:  Urban Meyer. Even as Luke Fickell took over the reins for Ohio State last season, the writing was on the wall that Fickell was there to serve as the buffer between the Tressel and Meyer eras.

Notre Dame Season Ends and Begins the same: Critical Red Zone INT

tommy-rees

The season ending loss to the Florida State Seminoles had a few things in common with the season opening defeat to South Florida: the quarterbacks threw too many interceptions, especially in the red zone; the defense kept bailing out the offense only to see the O turn it over again. And the explosive Brian Kelly hissy fit on the sidelines, caught on national television.

This time quarterback Tommy Rees was his victim. When he see his box score 16-26-163, 1 td, 2 int, I think you can understand why.

He switched in and out with Andrew Hendrix, who was actually much worse: 3-8-24, int.

New Kansas Coach: Charlie Weis and his pooch are back baby!!

charlie_weis

He is back. The pooch and his schematic advantage will once again be the top dog while trolling, or more accurately, standing on the sideline.

The Kansas University Jayhawks have tapped Charlie Weis as the man to replace Turner Gill and revitalize the football program in Lawrence.

Super Bowl Locations Should Change College Football

Generic NCAA Logo for College Football

Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014 isn’t going to be as great for media members as pretty much any Super Bowl in the past. It’s likely to be cold, windy and maybe even snowy for kickoff of the NFL title matchup in the New York area – the first time for a legitimate shot at “football weather” for football’s biggest game. So now the NCAA has to wake up and realize conference expansion isn’t the biggest issue with college football.

Florida Gator QBs ALWAYS bust in the NFL

tim tebow

By Paul M. Banks

Look out Tim Tebow acolytes! No matter what University of Florida signal-callers accomplish in college football, they always seem to crash-and-burn in the NFL!

Ever since the bone-headedly inexplicable 25th pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, there’s been a lot of hype in Denver about what Tebow could do as a Bronco. His jersey is the runaway best seller among rookies. He’s been spotted walking across the Colorado river and turning mountain spring water into wine. But before you hail him as the next Elway, remember that history is NOT on his side. And I’m not talking about the obvious loop in his throwing motion either.

The NFL is where UF quarterback careers go to die. And here’s some of the more recent and infamous headstones.

With Signing Day Here, Gophers Look Out of Running for Seantrel Henderson

By Mike Gallagher

Seantrel Henderson is one of the best recruits to ever come out of Minnesota, and it looks as if he’ll be the best one ever to get away.

With signing day on February 3rd, Henderson is set to announce his decision on CBS College Sports Network at 4:30 p.m. central time.

Not a person that can be found on earth knows what school Henderson is going to go with, and a dry run a few hours ago in the CBS College studios wielded no hint of it, either.

The one detail we do know, which is completely insignificant, is that it may not involve a hat selection, just a verbal revealing of the choice.
