Evan Turner talks about spending his new Money (Video)

Evan Turner NBA Draft

Remember this past March when Demetri McCamey, D.J. Richardson and the rest of the Illini were talking trash to Ohio State‘s Evan Turner in Big Ten Tournament semifinal game? And Turner responded by later showing the “holding my dollars” sign at the Illini bench?

Presumably that was in reference to all the money he’ll make in the NBA come June.

Well TMZ.com indeed sent this link to the right place. Because TMZ obtained video hours after the Philadelphia 76ers took Chicago native Evan Turner as the #2 overall pick in last night’s 2010 NBA Draft — the 21-year-old and his family hit Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club in NY … where he told TMZ.com how he plans to spend his new fortune.

EVERYTHING you need to know about #2 Overall Pick Evan Turner

“And with the second pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers select Evan Turner from the Ohio State University.”

That’s what you’ll hear tomorrow night as the Sixers make it official. Turner is a needed compliment to Andre Iguodala on the wing and will bring his versatility to a franchise badly in need of a go-to player.I truly was blessed this past season and post-season to have had the opportunity to closely cover college basketball’s most decorated player in Ohio State’s Evan Turner.

“His Royal Smoothness” as I often call him, won the Wooden, the Naismith and pretty much every other national college basketball player of the year award (seven in total). And he could very well be the next Scottie Pippen. He’s also EASILY the most blogged about individual athlete in The Sports Bank’s history.

I’ve written so much about him during this past year, I think his mother Iris James is the only person on this Earth who knows more about Turner than I do.

Evan Turnover? TOs and Strength Turner’s Weaknesses

evan turner

I truly was blessed this past season and post-season to have had the opportunity to closely cover college basketball’s most decorated player in Ohio State’s Evan Turner. “His Royal Smoothness” as we like to call him, won the Wooden, the Naismith and pretty much every other national college basketball player of the year award. We all know how good he is; he’ll be the second guy picked by Philadelphia in this June’s NBA Draft after John Wall goes first overall to Washington.

We’ve already heard all about his many strengths. And he could very well be the next Scottie Pippen, but he’s still far from perfect. As transcendent as his game seems at times, there are still some flaws.

2010 NBA Mock Draft

It’s NBA Draft week!  I am more giddy than Adam Lambert at an all boys school.  Make sure to check back to The Sports Bank frequently this week for all the latest draft info.  I will be updating my 2010 NBA Mock Draft Tuesday, Wednesday, and several times leading up to the first pick on Thursday.  We will also be live chatting during the actual draft and posting live grades for each pick so come and join the fun.  You can also check out my 2011 NBA Mock Draft.

When I usually do my NBA Mock Draft, I more times than not tend to make the picks based on what I think the teams WILL do rather than what they SHOULD do.  For today’s mock draft, I enlisted the help of fellow TSB contributors and NBA nerds, Peter Christian (PC) and Andy Weise (AW).  (I would be DK… David Kay.)  We each did some role playing and assumed the general manager position for each NBA team and went through the draft with the picks WE would make if WE were running the team.  Trades were allowed and here are how the selections played out.

Minnesota Timberwolves Don’t Get Any Help From Lottery

The John Wall Lott, er, NBA Draft Lottery has come and gone. The Washington Wizards won. Thirteen other teams didn’t. However, one team’s loss of the lottery hurts them more than any of the other 12 losers. The Minnesota Timberwolves NEEDED to get the first or the second pick. That necessity however, is, of course, why the Wolves had no chance at landing one of the top two picks in this year’s draft. Needless to say, landing the 4th pick in this year’s draft means certain doom for anyone who had hopes that this draft class was going to turn the franchise around.
