After Erin Andrews completed her third place finish on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” I posed the question where will she land next? And on June 15th, 2010 I wrote right here in this spot “Erin Andrews should replace Brooke Burke as host of DWTS.” It looks like ABC/Disney is listening to me because today that exact move was announced.

Two years after the infamous peephole video, ESPN reporter Erin Andrews still can’t escape it – even though she put her stalker behind bars. As Andrews gears up for college football season, and her increased media presence that always accompanies it, she sat down with Marie Claire to discuss the public and private battles she’s still waging. Below you will find an excerpt from the story, “The Haunting of Erin Andrews,” which appears in the August issue of the magazine as well as the magazine cover image.
Follow paulmbanksESPN Gameday, Media Circus has Now Left Town
There was something surreal Friday about watching the lead story on the ESPN sports shouting shows (I’d refer to them as sports talk shows, but they’re actually just SHOUTING MATCHES) from the very exact location where the lead story originates. I’m speaking of course, about the Wrigleyville Classic, “Wallgate” and the afternoon hours I spent in the waiting room of the Chicago Cubs front office at WrigleyField.
Joining me was Northwestern student media, the School’s Information Department, and the NU Student Ambassador to ESPN Gameday. (I’m assuming he’s granted diplomatic immunity on trips to Champaign) We, the second city’s college football liaisons, watched our hometown get verbally blasted by PTI and Around the Horn as we waited to interview the College Gameday personalities, including the Queen of all Sports Media, Erin Andrews.
The actual circus, Barnum and Bailey to be exact, is still in town (Just ask the Bulls and Blackhawks about what’s forcing them on crazy long road trips), but the media circus is now long gone.

By now you’ve heard all about the whole end zone problem and decision to have both teams use the same end zone. The college football game being played between the Northwestern Wildcats and the Illinois Fighting Illini will now be unique, one for the history books even.
Follow paulmbanksOnly Using One End Zone at Wrigleyville Classic Tomorrow!
According to ESPN Chicago, and ESPN 1000, they’ll only be using one end zone tomorrow at the Wrigleyville Classic, the game between Illinois and Northwestern at Wrigley Field. This is due to space constraints and safety concerns.
This in-state Big Ten rivalry game, the quirkiest game in all of college football just became quirkier, and more of a novelty.

It will certainly will be a bowl game type environment when the Northwestern Wildcats host the Illinois Fighting Illini, their bitter instate rival, in the Allstate Wrigleyville Classic at Wrigley Field. The Friendly Confines, home of Major League Baseball’s Chicago Cubs, last hosted a football game on Dec. 13, 1970. Kickoff is set for 2:35 p.m. CT this Saturday with ESPNU televising to a national cable audience.
In order to feature the world famous Wrigley marquee in the set’s backdrop, ESPN’s College GameDay will be originating its Saturday broadcast from the corner of Clark and Addison. Meaning yes, Erin Andrews, Queen of all Sports Media will indeed be here in Chicago. GameDay usually selects one “novelty game” a season, and this year it’s right here in Chicago’s Lakeview East neighborhood.
The atmosphere will be further enhanced when NU moves it’s usual, traditional “Wildcat Alley” set of gameday activities down to Wrigleyville.
For Illinois, it’s essentially a “play-in” game as their postseason lives hang in the balance. You can sense the bowl game tension in Ron Zook’s voice in this video.

I heard a rumor last night. Then this morning, I saw this published on the blog of our good friend and Chicago Now brother Spread Far the Fame (also the creator of that lovely graphic above)
ESPN’s College Gameday will be coming to our city for the Northwestern vs. Ill-ANNOY game at Wrigley this Saturday. It marks the first time since November of 1995 the preeminent college pregame show will originate from a Northwestern home game. This is big. This is huge. This is our chance to show the world that Northwestern is Chicago’s Big Ten team.
I’ll let your slam at my alma mater slide for now, because I agree this is ginormous news! (And I’ll retort your dig later)
Big news for the Big Ten, big news for the Illini, big news for college football (sort of), big news for the Cubs (I guess). Erin Pageviews, the Queen of All Sports Media is going to be in my neighborhood! Yes, I must repeat that. Erin Andrews in going to be in “Wildcat Alley” to cover the Wrigleyville classic.
It looks like your graphic has come true. Well, kind of.
Fairly close anyway.
