What should the Detroit Lions do with their first two draft picks?


Why do I have the Detroit Lions going O Line in both of the first two rounds of the NFL Draft? Am I nuts? Well, probably, but not because of my mock draft. The picks I made are for different positions among the big guys up front. And there’s versatility with what I can do here in their starting lineup by plugging in those guys.

Most importantly, their RBs have not been healthy, and they got to do a better job keeping Matt Stafford up right.

Detroit Lions Smartly Surround Suh With Talent


Fans may argue who exactly is the franchise player for the Detroit Lions.

Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson are possibilities on the offensive side, but I would argue that it is Ndamukong Suh because of his tenacity and performance on the defensive line. The team decided to shore up the line even further by selecting defensive tackle Nick Fairley out of Auburn with the thirteenth selection in the first round.

Like others in the NFL Draft, he undoubtedly slipped that far because of some murmurs that he is a dirty player and the possibility that he possesses some personality deficiencies. The SEC defensive player of the year might be the best performer on the team that produced the first overall selection in New York on Thursday.

Detroit Lions Draft Analysis


Things are finally looking up for the Detroit Lions. They are appearing in Monday Night Football for the first time in a decade against the Chicago Bears on October 10th.

Wide receiver Calvin Johnson is appearing regularly in national advertising spots. For the first time in numerous years, the faithful will gather at the Hard Rock Café and not witness a selection in the single digits of the first round. Most importantly, head coach Jim Schwartz is putting a quality product on the field.

Oh yeah, by the way there is a work stoppage. Sorry to rain on that parade.
