Chargers topple the Packers in a sloppy match-up; Preseason Notes and Links

Football has finally arrived, at least sort-of. In one of the first preseason match-ups of the year, turnovers were the name of the game as the San Diego Chargers and Green Bay Packers combined for seven of them. Don’t be fooled into thinking the scrubs were at fault either because star quarterbacks Philip Rivers and Aaron Rodgers had three of them.

Despite making a comeback in the third quarter, the Packers fell just short to the Chargers by the score of 21-13.

Green Bay Packers Could be Hurting at LB Position due to Erik Walden Arrest

 

 

 

 

 

Shortly after the Green Bay Packers’ 27-15 Thanksgiving win over the Detroit Lions, linebacker Erik Walden was arrested on a Felony Battery charge and awaits court on Monday morning.

The dispute reportedly took place Friday morning at 2:30 am at an apartment complex where the 26-year-old Walden had an altercation with his girlfriend.

If the alleged crime is true, the undefeated Packers (11-0) could be facing some serious problems at the linebacker position where the team has already been stretched low because of injuries. [Read more…]

Packers Accept Unfamiliar Role in Week 8


Unless you’re one of those ballers who bet stacks of money on NFL games every week, the spread appears to have no real significant meaning. In the case of the week eight battle between the Green Bay Packers (4-3) and New York Jets (5-1), the spread does have meaning, particularly in regards to the status of the Packers.

At +6.5, week eight marks the first week the Packers are officially considered the underdog in terms of the spread. The fact that the Packers played seven straight games from the favored side just goes to show you the high expectations placed on a team picked by many to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
