A Derrick Rose comeback? Two media sources in Chicago are speculating Rose will play for the first time this season on March 18th. NBA fans will likely have to wait just a couple more days for a Derrick Rose return. Chicago Bulls fans, it seems the 2011 league MVP, Derrick Rose, will be playing on Monday night versus the Denver Nuggets. You can see Derrick Rose on the court, not just on pizza boxes. The Bulls moved the telecast of their game with Denver from Comcast SportsNet+ Chicago to Comcast SportsNet Chicago.

The Bulls are switching places with the Blackhawks, and when you consider that the Blackhawks have been breaking television ratings records left and right, you know something big has to be happening to bump them down. The broadcast news began with Daily Herald Bulls beat reporter Mike McGraw, who tweeted:

Chicago Bulls season hinders on Derrick Rose’s return

The Sports Bank will be counting down to the opening tip of the 2012-13 NBA season with team by team previews starting with the worst and working our way to the title contenders.  There is no lockout this time around so let’s get going.

His Adidas commercial portrays the scene pretty darn accurately as all of Chicago went silent when Derrick Rose clutched his knee in the first game of the Bulls’ opening round playoff series against the 76ers with the worst coming true; a torn ACL.  With Rose’s return questionable for this season, the Bulls must simply survive in hopes that their superstar can get back on the floor before the postseason begins.

What will the Chicago Bulls do on NBA Draft night?

luvabulls

Winning 50 games in the lockout shortened season of 2011-12 was a major accomplishment for the Chicago Bulls.  However, all that excitement and hopefulness of re-claiming the Larry O’Brien Trophy came crashing down with one injury to Derrick Rose.  Unfortunately, that’s how the Bulls 2011-12 season will be remembered. Being the best regular season team in the NBA went all for not, as the Bulls suffered that very rare #8 over #1 upset to the Philadelphia 76ers.

And that ACL injury to Rose that cost them the first round playoff series also has major consequence on what happens next season; meaning it’s the number point to center around what they do in the offseason, and on NBA Draft night.

Derrick Rose is out for the entire postseason with a torn ACL. Yes, he’s done for the playoffs, and essentially so are the Chicago Bulls.

Bulls a Conference Contender Now?

By Paul M. Banks

Since falling to 10-17 on December 22nd, the Chicago Bulls’ low water mark of the season, the team has gone 16-9. Chicago began the second half of the season 2-0 (granted it was against the lowly New York Knicks) and today they find themselves 27-26 and currently holding the #6 seed. They’re just two games behind Toronto for the #5 slot, a position that could give them a very reasonable shot at winning a playoff series.

We all know the deals they made on NBA Trading Deadline Thursday were much more about clearing cap space for the much-hyped off-season signing period than about winning now. And they accomplished that mission, as the team now has more cap space to work with this summer, but what about their prospects down the stretch of this season?

Derrick Rose Still might Play in All-Star Game

By Paul M. Banks

Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose still might play in the All-Star game this Valentine’s Day. Yes, his injury during last night’s blowout loss to the Orlando Magic looked ugly, but take heart Bulls fans- it isn’t serious. Rose left with a bruised right hip at the 9:36 mark of the first quarter.  He hit the floor following a foul by Orlando center Dwight Howard. Today, the Magic big man apologized for what happened and reiterated how friendly he is with Derrick.
