2011 Big Ten QB Power Rankings: Preseason Edition

July 28, 2011 By paulmbanks

taylor-martinez-nebraska-cornhuskers

There's four good teams in the Big Ten this season and five more that could be good or just blah. You can call it parity (just don't call it PARODY, I HATE when people make that mistake, it isn't Weird Al Yankovic playing college football here) or you can call it mediocrity. The talent at quarterback is anything but mediocre though. There's dual threats everywhere you look, and … [Read more...] about 2011 Big Ten QB Power Rankings: Preseason Edition

Big 10 Football Power Rankings: 2011 Inaugural Edition

July 27, 2011 By paulmbanks

Yes,  hate the names of the two new divisions as much as everyone else. How did that atrocity happen? I don't know, let's not talk about it anymore and just move on to the fact that the Nebraska Cornhuskers are here now, and they arrived just in time to strengthen the Big Ten. At the exact same time that the Ohio State Buckeyes deteriorate into a real life college football … [Read more...] about Big 10 Football Power Rankings: 2011 Inaugural Edition

Wolverines Denard Robinson: Quite Possibly College Football’s Most Electrifying Player

July 21, 2011 By paulmbanks

Don't call him "Shoelace" anymore. It's an annoying played out nickname that attempts to minimize all that he is just one play. And that's unfair because Michigan Wolverines QB and dual-threat du jour Denard Robinson is a man of so many moves. Not just one play. The Deerfield Beach native has been named to the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award and Walter Camp Football … [Read more...] about Wolverines Denard Robinson: Quite Possibly College Football’s Most Electrifying Player

The Chicago Tribune announced today that University of Michigan sophomore quarterback Denard Robinson has been named the recipient of the Silver Football as the Big Ten’s Most Valuable Player. The award is voted upon by the conference’s 11 head coaches. Robinson was a finalist along with Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor and Purdue defensive end Ryan Kerrigan. For … [Read more...] about Denard Robinson, Not Dan Persa Takes Home Silver Football Award

Denard Robinson wins Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Award

November 29, 2010 By paulmbanks

It was definitely a tale of two seasons for University of Michigan sophomore quarterback Denard Robinson. He absolutely destroyed the college football world after his first five games, and his team was undefeated. But the native of Deerfield Beach, Fla. slowed down, as did his team in the back half of the season, once the Wolverines started to play real defenses. Still … [Read more...] about Denard Robinson wins Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Award

The Davey O’Brien Foundation announced today that Iowa senior quarterback Ricky Stanzi is one of 16 semifinalists for the 2010 Dave O’Brien National Quarterback Award. Why Michigan’s Denard Robinson is ready to slow down

October 15, 2010 By paulmbanks

Denard Robinson

A Michigan football team that's markedly improved over last year's 5-7 record has been rejuvenated under the leadership of sophomore stud QB Denard Robinson.  It appears a dark – though brief – chapter in maize and blue history has come to an end.  The blazing fast recruit from Deerfield Beach, Florida has made good on a fat stash of potential, and the Wolverines are back in … [Read more...] about Why Michigan’s Denard Robinson is ready to slow down

Wolverines Denard Robinson: Truly Bigger than Jesus?

October 6, 2010 By paulmbanks

The late John Lennon once got in trouble for saying that The Beatles were "bigger than Jesus." However, he simply conveyed a valid point- at that particular moment in history, the Beatles' popularity was arguably bigger than Jesus Christ in certain places. Lennon also gave us one of my all-time favorite quotes: "life is what happens when you're busy making other plans." Both … [Read more...] about Wolverines Denard Robinson: Truly Bigger than Jesus?

Denard Robinson, Terrelle Pryor Looking as Heisman as Anybody

September 28, 2010 By paulmbanks

We knew entering this fall that college football's Heisman race would be as wide open as ever. With Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy gone, and no big name senior quarterbacks to replace them, the race for the game's most prestigious trophy began wide open in the preseason. Given that there have been so few repeat winners, we knew the odds were stacked against Alabama … [Read more...] about Denard Robinson, Terrelle Pryor Looking as Heisman as Anybody

Michigan’s QB Denard Robinson: Simply Ridonkulous!

September 12, 2010 By paulmbanks

denard_robinson

"I'm speechless right now.  I really don't know what to say right now.  That was amazing.  Our team obviously came together and the defense played well, and we just put it together." Those were the first words Michigan Wolverines QB Denard Robinson said when addressing the media in South Bend yesterday after his Wolverines defeated Notre Dame 28-24. He's not the only … [Read more...] about Michigan’s QB Denard Robinson: Simply Ridonkulous!
