Chicago Bears Send Robbie Gould to Season-Ending IR

An apparent calf injury will sideline Robbie Gould for the remaining 3 weeks of the regular season, and possibly into the playoffs.

The Chicago Bears will be without former Pro Bowl kicker Robbie Gould for at least the remainder of the regular season. Gould would also likely miss the playoffs should the Bears make an appearance.

After pulling up lame with an apparent calf injury in pre-game warmups before Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Gould was replaced by punter Adam Podlesh on kickoff duties. Gould still managed to connect on both point-after attempts in the Bears 21-14 loss.

The mix at safety is always interesting for the Bears. The team hasn’t had any player return as a starter for more than two consecutive years at safety since Mike Brown was in town… the first time around.

In my last post, I mentioned how the safety rotation took a hit with the injuries to Chris Conte and Brandon Hardin. It looks like defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli will have to play musical chairs again this year to make ends meet.
