Indianapolis Colts Chuck Pagano: under the radar in ’13

chuck-strong

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano; who took leave for a few months last season when he was diagnosed with leukemia. The 53 year old had to endure a multi-week stay in the hospital for chemotherapy treatment. The team rallied around him with the #chuckstrong motto. Team cheerleaders even shaved their heads to show solidarity with Chuck Pagano. And once he was cleared by doctors, his last round of chemotherapy, he returned to coaching, just in time for the NFL playoffs.

Chuck Pagano also gave one hell of a pregame speech last year. It made me one hell of a Colts fan; and of course a fan of Chuck Pagano.

Recovering Colts coach Chuck Pagano writes letter to people of Indiana

chuck-strong

While battling the monstrous illness of leukemia, Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano received a massive outpouring of public support. The Indiana statehouse included the Chuckstrong term in its Christmas lights, the term itself became a national trend, Colts cheerleaders and players shaved their heads in support of him. Pagano will return to the sidelines and coach for the first time since being diagnosed in September.

He’ll prepare his team for the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Wild Card tomorrow with his leukemia fully in remission. h/t Helmet2Helmet

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano is currently battling leukemia. He is of course on indefinite leave from the team to take care of his health and deal with something so much larger than NFL football. He took a break from his chemotherapy to address his team postgame.

They just beat the Miami Dolphins. #Chuckstrong!

Firing of Polians Was Overdue: Recent Colts Draft History

colts

Then GM Bill Polian used his first pick in the 1998 draft to take Peyton Manning.  While Polian has had a few good picks since, it has been mostly downhill from there.

I think it is too soon to take a look at the 2010 and 2011 drafts so I will start our analysis with the 2009 draft.

Indianapolis Colts Plight, Drama Qualifies for Taiwanese Animation (Video)

After a horrendous 2-14 season, the Indianapolis Colts dismissed coach Jim Caldwell. A day after they said he would be retained. Caldwell took over from Tom Dungy in 2009. The Colts have leaned heavily on an aging Peyton Manning. His one year injury absence deteriorated the colts from AFC contender to being so bad this past season that they earned the first pick of the 2012 NFL draft pick.

Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck appears to be there’s. And if actor Rob Lowe is to be believed, Peyton Manning is going to retire. Lowe broke the story in a tweet.

Here’s NMA’s latest animation on the Indianapolis Colts:

Bid on Bubba Smith’s Colts, NFL, Michigan St. Trophies, Awards

This past August, we tragically lost a gentle giant in Bubba Smith. Perhaps the greatest Michigan State player ever. The “Kill, Bubba, Kill” chant is etched within Spartans and college football lore. Later, Smith made his mark through the Colts and the Police Academy movies.

And when you see the tremendous amount of awards and trophies left behind in his estate, you see just how much he accomplished in his short life.

The estate sale includes the 2007 Bronko Nagurski Legends Award, Senior Bowl trophy, signed passports and Pro Bowl trophies.

Peyton Manning’s 2011 Season is Over, Quite Possibly his Career Too!

MANNING FACE

We know this today, the Indianapolis Colts will probably not have Peyton Manning this season. You’ve heard two-three months as the timetable for his return. But given the extent of the injury, and the fact that no NFL quarterback has ever tried to come back after having done what Peyton will undergo, those two-three month estimates sound more like a way to give Indy hope, than an actual scenario.

It seems pretty clear his 2011 is done. You don’t need M.D. after your name to see that.

After traveling the entire country and consulting a half-dozen doctors, Peyton Manning elected to get a 3rd neck surgery on Thursday. This will be Peyton’s 3rd surgery on his neck since last season. The procedure is a one-level cervical neck fusion. It’s also referred to as a cervical spinal fusion.
