2013 NBA Draft stock report: Charleston Classic edition

colorado charleston classic

It wasn’t a star studded field but the Charleston Classic did afford college basketball nuts like myself to check out some competitive early season hoops.  Led by their spectacular guard play, the Colorado Buffaloes claimed the tourney title.  Though their play didn’t thrust them into the national spotlight, it certainly caught my attention and probably opened the eyes of some NBA GM’s as well.  Here are some players who either helped or hurt their 2013 NBA Draft Stock.

#56 Colorado Buffaloes: College Basketball 111 in 111

colorado cheerleaders

Welcome to The Sports Bank’s third annual college basketball season preview series.  Two years we looked at 99 teams in 99 days.  Last year, we were slightly more aggressive and expanded to 111 teams in 111 days and will do so again as we look ahead to the 2012-2013 season.

We will rank the 75 power conference teams and top 36 mid-majors in reverse power ranking order.  We’ll break down rosters, transfers, incoming freshmen, non-conference schedules, and pick a player to watch for each team.

I admit that I missed the boat on the Colorado Buffaloes last season when I predicted them to struggle in their inaugural year in the Pac-12.  Instead, Tad Boyle’s team earned the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament and will push for a return trip again this year.

It’s not even Feast Week and the pre-season tournament is upon us.  The 2011 Puerto Rico Tip-Off begins today and has somewhat of a watered down field since teams like Purdue, Maryland, and Colorado are going through a transition period.  Here are my predictions and what to look for during the four day tourney.  Click on the school’s name for an in-depth season preview.

99 in 99: #70 Colorado Buffaloes

Colorado cheerleaders

In the summer of the mega-conference, Colorado was one of the few major programs to actually change affiliation.  This will be the Buffaloes final season in the Big 12 as they will become a member of the Pac-10.  You know, because Colorado hugs the Pacific Ocean… Nobody is sadder than the other Big 12 basketball teams who stomped all over the Buffs the past few seasons.

The Sports Bank’s “99 in 99” ranks the 72 power conference college basketball teams and top 27 mid-majors for the 2010-2011 season.  It will provide with all you need to know about each team and lead right up to the opening tip of the season.  Click here if you missed teams #70-#99.
