‘Joestradmaus’ still has the magic touch. The Bengals put up three more points than I predicted, but cut a guy a break; at the end of the day, the Bears still won.

Charles Tillman and the gang managed to corral the one-man wrecking crew known as A.J. Green before things got too far out of hand, and the offense showed some promising signs as they dug out of a late double-digit deficit to start the Trestman Era on the right foot.

But this week’s contest against the Minnesota Vikings doesn’t just feature a one-man wrecking crew, it features a deity cleverly disguised as a human who snacks on Bears defensive play calls as if they were Jolly Ranchers.

This week, I’ll tell you why ‘Purple Jesus’ Adrian Peterson will continue his reign of terror at Soldier Field, and why the Bears will still come out winners in the end.

Chicago Bears Predictions: Week One

Chicago Bears Predictions

It’s that time of year again, folks; time for “Joestradamus” to bust out the crystal ball and make Chicago Bears predictions for 2013.

Remind me to have my legal people to look into getting “Joestradamus” trademarked, I think I’m onto something here.

Last year in my prediction series, I correctly called the first eight Chicago Bears predictions en route to a 7-1 start. Things got a bit sketchy in the third quarter when I called for three more victories while the Bears were only able to eek out one.

Let’s also not mention that I never predicted the final four games of the season…

But fear not! I’ve been inspired by the news of J’Marcus Webb signing with the Vikings to find my prime predicting form from the first half of last season.

Without further ado, I give you my first installment of my annual foray into clairvoyance.

Chicago Bears Hindsight Draft

Jerry Angelo Hindsight

Imagine, if you will, Troy Polamalu returning a fumble he forced himself for a touchdown; Aaron Rodgers lofting up 50-yard bombs with pinpoint accuracy; and Maurice Jones-Drew dissecting a defense with his explosive speed.

Now, imagine all of those things happening… with those players wearing Bears jerseys. Call it crazy if you’d like, but the draft records show that former GM Jerry Angelo had the power to make all of this possible. In hindsight. [Read more…]

Cincinnati Bengals stadium to host Ohio St spring game

sarah-jones

The 2013 Ohio State Spring football Game will be played April 13 in Cincinnati at Paul Brown Stadium, officials from the Ohio State Department of Athletics, Cincinnati Bengals and Hamilton County announced today.

As you well know, people in central Ohio have no life, so this scrimmage, this opportunity to see third-stringers battle one another routinely draws 80-90,000 people; reflecting the dysfunctional dependency that people there have for college football. They’re even willing to pay for this because they have nothing else going on in their lives.

Cincinnati Bengals 2012 Fantasy Football Preview

Cincinnati may not be the prettiest of cities these days, but that doesn’t mean the Bengals aren’t anticipating a successful year on the gridiron. The Bengals are a young and upcoming team who can easily surpass the 21.5 points per game (18th in the league) they scored last season and realistically compete with the rest of the AFC North which doesn’t look nearly as lopsided as it has in the past decade.

Here are the guys in Cincinnati that you should have on your list come time to do the fantasy draft. [Read more…]

Cincinnati Bengals 2012 preseason schedule; get Cincinnaughty with Sarah Jones

sarah-jones-bengals

When it comes to Cincinnati Bengals coverage, there’s a been a lot more Ben-Gals coverage lately. The team’s practices of being Cincinnaughty by getting into trouble with the law have spilled over to the cheerleaders- where the captain of the squad faces up to five years in prison.

That would be Sarah Jones, also a former schoolteacher who was indicted and plead not guilty to charges she had sex with a student. Click her name above to read more.

Ryan Leaf arrested yet again! Very Cincinnati Bengals like

ryan_leaf

From draft bust to drug bust.

Ryan Leaf, the ultimate bust when it comes to NFL franchise quarterback draft picks, was arrested for the second time in the past four days. Meaning the Cincinnati Bengals have already contacted his agent about working him out and getting him on the roster. No, I’m joking about that last part.

But seriously, you know how extensive the legal issues have been with the “Cincinnaughty Bengals,” much more than any NFL team. And right now, it even spills over into the team cheerleading squad. As Sarah Jones, the current Captain of the Ben-Gals faces up to five years in prison for having sex with a 16-year-old student.

But back to Leaf, who has his own problems.

Indianapolis Colts’ New GM Faces Decision on Jim Caldwell

We’re nearly five days into the Ryan Grigson era in Indianapolis, and the Colts’ new general manager should be about ready to make the call on the first of many crucial decisions this offseason.

Grigson, the former director of player personnel with the Philadelphia Eagles and an Indiana native (Purdue alum), is expected to decide either today or in the next couple of days whether to retain incumbent head coach Jim Caldwell or to complete the housecleaning and move forward with his own guy.

With huge decisions looming later in the offseason, particularly whether to keep or release quarterback Peyton Manning and whether to do the same (or re-sign) so many high-profile Colts players, the Caldwell decision might seem simple. It’s not, though, and it could have an effect on some of those decisions down the road.

Indianapolis Colts’ Peyton Manning Reportedly Being Evaluated Again

Thanks to our ever-evolving flow of news, we’re seeing countless different rumors about what’s going on with Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.

Is he undergoing another neck surgery? Could he miss the Colts’ season opener at Houston on Sunday? Is he out for the entire season?

This much we have seen confirmed: ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported that Manning was being evaluated by doctors once again regarding apparent slow progress in his recovery from offseason neck surgery. No further procedure had been planned yet.

We don’t know at this point how much time Manning may miss, but it’s starting to feel more and more like he’ll be a no-go for the team’s Week 1 matchup against the Texans.

A Post-Preseason Look at the Indianapolis Colts

So here stand the Indianapolis Colts.

Here they stand after a condensed offseason, an entire training camp without quarterback Peyton Manning, a 1-3 preseason and a cut to the 53-man roster.

So here they stand … and where, exactly is “here” that they stand?

I have to be honest with you, not even I am quite sure one week in advance of the team’s regular-season opener against the Houston Texans at Reliant Stadium. [Read more…]
