With a new owner, new nickname, and a pair of lottery picks in the 2012 NBA Draft, the New Orleans Hornets (or whatever they end up getting called) are entering a new era as a team.  It could be the boost that helps fans forget about Chris Paul and look towards a potentially promising future.  However, that can’t happen if the team doesn’t make some upgrades this off-season which should include signing restricted free agent Eric Gordon to a contract extension.

NBA Trade Deadline: Possible suitors for the Hornets’ Chris Kaman

Plenty of names will be floated around in the next week-plus as the NBA trade deadline approaches on March 15th.  Over the next week, I am going to take a look at which players are likely to be dealt and what teams might be interested in acquiring said player.  Earlier this season, the New Orleans Hornets put Chris Kaman on the trade block and will almost certainly move him in the next two weeks.

L.A. Clippers Trade for Chris Paul; Roll the Dice on Future

As I suggested in this article back in May, the Los Angeles Clippers seemed to be a realistic trade partner for the New Orleans Hornets and Chris Paul.  After a week of rumors and vetoed trade proposals by David Stern, CP3 has finally been dealt to the Clips for three players headlined by Eric Gordon along with a first round pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.  It is a risky deal for L.A. who somewhat mortgages their future with the hope that Paul will stick with the Clippers and not leave via free agency in the summer.
