Wade and Bosh signing with Miami puts Bulls in Very Rough Spot

bulls

With the announcement that Chris Bosh and Dwanye Wade will be teammates in Miami, Chicago Bulls fans need to be like Al Gore and realize a very inconvenient truth. The top 3 free agents are NOT coming to Chicago. Tomorrow night’s “very special episode of the Lebron show” will likely yield the announcement of King James staying in Cleveland. There are rumblings he’s going  to New York, but really, he’s going to stay put in his hometown. It’s the only place where they intentionally built a practice facility closer to his home.

And with Amare Stoudemire going to the Knicks, and Dirk Nowitzki, Rudy Gay and Paul Pierce re-upping with their current teams, the Bulls have effectively lost out on the top seven free agents. (Depending on how you rank players 5-7 in this free agent class)

So what do you do now? How do you effectively stop disappointment from degenerating into disaster? You can still salvage something substantial from this free agency period.

It’s Not LeBron or Bust for Chicago Bulls this Offseason

gar_forman_bulls

We all know that LeBron James is the ultimate prize this NBA offseason. And we all know the Chicago Bulls are, if not THE front-runner, one of the front runners to acquire his services. We’ve already heard the rumor that King James and Chris Bosh are a “done deal.” Only to later hear that rumor debunked. But don’t regard this summer of free agency love as a complete loss should the King establish a new court in some place other than Chicago.

Obtaining the best player in the NBA is the goal, and the best of all outcomes. However, there are still plenty of other prizes available should the Bulls not land one of 2010 free agency’s “big three” (James, Bosh, Dwanye Wade).

We can start by looking at the small things the Bulls have accomplished already.

Bulls TV Analyst Kendall Gill breaks down Free Agency Prospects

The NBA free agency season has just begun, and trust me- it will be a hundred times more interesting and exciting than last year’s NBA regular season. I say that without hyperbole.

And if you don’t believe me check out these tweets from Chris Bosh himself, the third most sought after free agent in this class. Bosh posted them right before: “I’ve been watching this clock and it won’t speed up!”

and after: “The time is finally here. Thank you for all the support. I’m nervous, but I’m excited and READY! LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!!!!” open season officially commenced.

And the Chicago Bulls are premier players in this free agency period. Former Bull Kendall Gill was added to Comcast SportsNet’s studio coverage of the Chicago Bulls as analyst prior to the ‘06-‘07 season. He also serves as college basketball analyst for the Big Ten Network.

I recently had an exclusive with Gill where we talked Bulls free agency prospects.
