The New York Jets coaching carousel has made many stops, with not much momentum in between. Owner Woody Johnson reached out for help from former general managers, Charley Casserly and Ron Wolf, which likely is the reason the new brain trust is taking their time while staying mum.

Jets fans may be impatient, but Johnson seems to finally understand that this is the logical way to fill the head- coaching void.

Buffalo Bills: this defense is for real

Jerry Hughes

The Bills look good. Yes, you read that correctly. It’s only two weeks into the season, but the Buffalo Bills sit atop the AFC East as one of only five teams who are 2-0 heading into a Monday night showdown between the Colts and Eagles.

On a day where Bills fans were not only able to celebrate the tremendous strength of Jim Kelly and the fact that they’ll remain in Buffalo under new ownership, the Bills came out and beat up on their divisional rival, the Miami Dolphins.

How the Chicago Bears can win, lose Week 1

jay-cutler-chicago-bears

An interesting preseason for the Chicago Bears has ended and the wait for meaningful football is finally over.

At noon on Sunday, the Bears open up their 2014-15 NFL campaign by welcoming the Buffalo Bills to Soldier Field. The Bills enter the season with as many issues and concerns as Chicago, meaning that this game may be a closer matchup than it appears.

The main objective in football is to outscore your opponent. Last I checked the Chicago Bears can score. The 2013-14 version finished tied for second with the New England Patriots averaging 27.8 points per game. Only Denver’s astounding 37.9 ppg topped Chicago’s balanced attack. Buffalo averaged 21.2 points per game if you were wondering. [Read more…]

Can Sammy Watkins Bring the Buffalo Bills to a Super Bowl?

buffalo_bills-cheerleaders

After a brutal offseason, there is nothing Buffalo Bills fans want more than to see their beloved team get back to their old winning ways.

This offseason has seen the passing of long-time Bills owner Ralph Wilson, leaving the team still up for sale and in need of a new stadium in order to remain in Buffalo, New York. As if that isn’t bad enough, Hall of Fame Bills quarterback Jim Kelly, the greatest player in the history of the franchise, is battling cancer. Bills fans need something, anything, to give them hope again.

Chicago Bears Free Agency Analysis and Predictions

NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Giants

Well, that escalated quickly.

GM Phil Emery followed up his amazing opening act last season with an equally impressive performance in the first few hours of this year’s free agency period.

About 60 minutes after the opening bell, former Giants tight end Martellus Bennett was watching the ink dry on his new four-year deal with the Bears. The terms of Bennett’s contract have not yet been disclosed.

A few hours later, ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed that former Saints Pro Bowl left tackle Jermon Bushrod would be joining Bennett in the Windy City on a five-year, $36 million deal, making him the highest paid offensive lineman in team history. [Read more…]

Buffalo Bills 2012 Fantasy Football Preview

When you start talking fantasy, the Buffalo Bills aren’t necessarily the first team that comes to mind. Don’t let their meager 6-10 record fool you, they’re a team who can put some points on the scoreboard (23.3 per game in 2011 which ranked 14th) and in essence help your fantasy team.

Here are the guys in Buffalo that you should have on your list come time to do the fantasy draft.

Buffalo Bills: Vince Young’s last chance in the NFL?

vince_young

In early July 2011, Vince Young was waived by the Tennessee Titans and promptly picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles, who agreed to a one-year contract with Young. Young played in only 6 games that season for Philadelphia, getting off to a very rough 1-2 start.

At present, Young is without a team, which seems a little preposterous at this point in his career.

And another huge step forward for social media. Wanna get an invite to Buffalo Bills camp this summer and have a chance to try out for the team? Put together a really impressive YouTube video and put it out there.

Alex Tanney did, becoming an internet sensation with the self-titled “Trick Shot Quarterback” video showing he can hit a receiver in a moving vehicle and throw footballs from across the court and swish them into basketball nets. He even banged a pass off the crossbar of an upright from 50 yards out – from his knees.

NFL Week 3: Mike Vick, Alex Smith, No-Name Buffalo Bills, Torrey Smith

Cam Newton made this blog after his play in week one. He has now notched his first NFL victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Prior to today, Newton had received some criticism because he had passed for an impressive number of yards, but he had thrown more interceptions than touchdowns. His touchdown pass to Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen proved that Newton could come through under pressure late in games.

Surprises from Week One in the NFL

Peyton Manning Fantasy Football

Stadiums, bars, and couches were packed all over the country as fans paid tribute to their fallen heroes from ten years ago and enjoyed the first Sunday during the professional football season. Besides wagering, the one thing that makes the NFL so appealing is that it is unpredictable. In baseball, it is obvious that the Red Sox and Yankees will perennially compete for the division crown. In the NFL, on any given Sunday…. Ok, enough with the Al Pacino flashback.

The Buffalo Bills took the Kansas City Chiefs out to the woodshed during week one. Ryan Fitzpatrick didn’t put up big time yardage, but he did attain four touchdowns and spread the ball around with efficiency. Four receivers had more than sixty yards each in yardage. They were Stevie Johnson, David Nelson, and Scott Chandler. The thirty-four point victory on the road showed that good players don’t necessarily need to have name recognition from the masses.
