Ohio State’s New Breast Center Honors Chris Spielman’s Late Wife

Current ESPN radio college football broadcaster and Ohio State All-American LB Chris Spielman was in Columbus today to see the breast center at the Ohio State University named after his late wife, Stefanie, who raised millions of dollars for breast cancer research before losing her battle against cancer in 2009.

University President (for now, see how long he lasts after the next athletic department scandal breaks) Gordon Gee announced the naming of The Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center, the only one of its kind in the Midwest to offer the full continuum of breast cancer care, from prevention and screening through detection, diagnosis and treatment.

As this is national breast cancer awareness month, the opening of the center brings some much needed good news to OSU.

OSU Buckeyes WR Devier Posey Must Sit Another 5 Games

devier_posey

As bad as things have been for the Ohio State Buckeyes offense this season, they’re probably not getting better any time soon. Possibly the most important on-the-field member of the Tattoo five, their best receiver by far, Devier Posey isn’t coming back until he serves another five game suspension.

This statement from Ohio St. AD Gene Smith says it all about what they’re feeling in Columbus.

“I am extremely disappointed with the NCAA’s decision regarding Devier Posey. This penalty is harsh considering the nature of the violation and the five game suspension already served by this student athlete.”

How Badly Does Ohio State Need and Want Urban Meyer?

Despite his current enviable cushy ESPN job, former Florida Gators Head Coach Urban Meyer will return to coaching college football. And probably next year, with either the Penn State Nittany Lions, or more likely the Ohio State Buckeyes.

It’s the worst kept secret in the game- the Buckeyes football brass wants Meyer. They want/him need him more than 473 pound ex-football coach Mark Mangino needs/wants high calorie, artery-clogging types of food.

Luke Fickell will be the next fall guy in Columbus. I thought he was possibly being set up for that this summer, but now with what a train wreck the 2011 offense is, and how the Bucknuts are becoming the likely 6-6 or 5-7 Sucknuts, it’s certain that he’s the next sacrificial lamb. Jim Tressel and Terrelle Pryor weren’t enough. The culture of corruption runs so deep at the shoe that another high profile name will need to be axed in order to sever all ties with the old regime.

Ohio State A.D. Gene Smith announced today that further violations have been discovered and that three college football players have been declared ineligible for this weekend’s game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.  Those players are Marcus Hall, DeVier Posey and Daniel Herron. The university has submitted a request for reinstatement on behalf of each student-athlete, but it is anticipated that each will sit out at least the game this weekend.

Three Ohio State Buckeyes Reinstated; Three Remain Suspended

Three Ohio State players: Corey Brown, Jordan Hall and Travis Howard have been reinstated after sitting out two games (both wins) and can play again once they each repay $200 to charity, according to a decision today by the NCAA.

Hall is the team’s starting running back, while Howard is a starting cornerback and Brown a backup safety.

The Buckeyes still remain without running back Dan Herron, wide receiver DeVier Posey, offensive lineman Mike Adams and defensive lineman Solomon Thomas until October because of their roles in a scandal that involved selling memorabilia for cash and tattoos.

Indianapolis Colts have New Employee: Ex-Buckeye Leader Jim Tressel!

After resigning (later re-branded and re-packaged as “retiring”) from THE Ohio State University for lying to and not cooperating with the NCAA, Jim “The Vest” Tressel is in the NFL with the Indianapolis.

Colts coach Jim Caldwell said on a conference call with the media Friday that Tressel will be a gameday consultant this coming season. Tressel will focus on consulting on replays, which mainly means he will be getting paid to tell the staff if they should throw the challenge flag or not.
