Too early to give up on the Milwaukee Brewers making the playoffs?

Just a mere seven months ago, the Milwaukee Brewers were the 2011 National League Central Champions and a serious contender for a trip to the World Series.

Now, twenty seven games into the 2012 regular season and the Brewers (12-15 record) couldn’t look any further from that team who broke numerous franchise records and captured the hearts of baseball fans all over Wisconsin.

With four serious injuries and an inconsistent line-up, maybe it’s time to give up on Milwaukee realistically making the playoffs.

Brewers Nyjer Morgan Drops F-Bomb TWICE Celebrating 2011 NLDS Win (Video)

Hey, Milwaukee Brewers Centerfielder Nyjer Morgan, you just drove in the decisive run in the extra innings of a NLDS elimination game. What are you going to do next?

Say the naughtiest of all words twice on live cable television.

Fresh off their 3-2 10th inning win over the Arizona Diamonbacks, Morgan celebrated by saying the phrase that pays (hint: it’s in the theme song to Team America: World Police, “America ___ ____) to TBS’ Sam Ryan.

“He’s enjoying the moment guys.” Was Ryan’s response. Watch it after the jump

Milwaukee Brewers Reach First NLCS Since 1982! Defeat Arizona in Extra Innings

logo

The last time the Milwaukee Brewers reached the National League Championship Series was 1982. They sported the logo you see above. It was the glory days of Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Jim Gantner, back when the Brew Crew was in the American League. Unfortunately, they lost to their current division rival, the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series, as Catcher Darrell Porter became a hated enemy of epic proportions for all baseball fans in beer town.

But tonight they outlasted Arizona, as Nyjer Morgan drove in Carlos Gomez with the game winning run in the bottom of the tenth.

In NLDS game 5, Brewers ace Yovani Gallardo, who owned game one with a masterful winning performance out-dueled his Arizona Diamondbacks counterpart Ian Kennedy in this one. Kennedy, who was a ridiculous 21-4, 2.88 ERA on the season, threw 6 innings and gave up 2 runs, they were earned, 5 K, 2BB.

Yovani Gallardo’s Brilliant Performance Leads Brewers to 4-1 Win in Game 1

The fans at Miller Park were electric and provided the home-field advantage everyone thought they would, but it was a near-perfect performance from Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo who helped the Brew Crew grab a 4-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in game one of the NLDS.

Gallardo pitched eight innings and struck out nine while giving up only four hits and the one run. On the offensive side, it was Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder (who else would it be?) who combined for five of the Brewers’ eight hits on the day.

Home-Field Should Help the Brewers Beat the D-Backs (NLDS Preview)

Brewers Win NL Central and Become Must Watch TV for October

Brewers fans rejoice as your team is headed to the playoffs for only the third time in franchise history. Unlike 2008, this is no wild card berth, but rather a division title, their first since moving to the National League in 1997.

It’s been 29 years since the Brewers have won a division title, a feet they accomplished once before in 1982 when they took home the AL East crown.

“For us to win the division I think is a little more meaningful than winning the wild card. It really means a lot. It’s special,” said Ryan Braun who had the three-run home-run on Friday to propel the Brewers past the Marlins 4-1. [Read more…]
