In my most recent bracketology, 11 Big East teams made the NCAA Tournament projections. It is not a crazy thought right now especially since nine teams are ranked in the AP Top 25. Of course, once the season plays out and teams start to beat up on each other, a couple of those teams will struggle and take themselves out of the conversation like happens every year. Here are … [Read more...] about Big East Basketball Power Rankings (1/18/11)

Big East Basketball Power Rankings (1-11-11)
There are three different sections to the Big East through two weeks of conference play: The top tier, potential NCAA Tournament teams, and the bottom five. Pitt, Syracuse, and Villanova have earned the title of the teams to beat but the next eight are battling for their tourney lives already... and it is only the second week of January. Here are my updated Big East … [Read more...] about Big East Basketball Power Rankings (1-11-11)

99 in 99: #12 Villanova Wildcats
It is going to be strange watching the Villanova Wildcats this season and not seeing Peter Christian’s boy Scottie Reynolds on the floor... Kind of like how it is when I tune into CSI and do not see Gil Grissom. It is different and I am not sure I like it, but I know have to move on because he is never coming back. For the record, I have the exact opposite feeling about … [Read more...] about 99 in 99: #12 Villanova Wildcats
99 in 99: #33 Marquette Golden Eagles
I realize I might be homering a tad bit by placing Marquette this high especially when my college hoops man-crush Jay Bilas picked them to finish 10th in the Big East. Low outside expectations are nothing new to a Golden Eagle team that has not finished lower than 5th place in the Big East since entering the conference in 2005-2006. So on second thought, I think 33rd is a … [Read more...] about 99 in 99: #33 Marquette Golden Eagles
99 in 99: #87 South Florida Bulls
Winning nine games in the Big East is reason to celebrate when you had only won 11 games in the previous four seasons combined since arriving in the conference. Still, USF fell short of making the NCAA Tournament and lost their best player to the NBA. The Sports Bank’s 99 team college basketball preview in 99 days continues with South Florida. In case you have been drunker … [Read more...] about 99 in 99: #87 South Florida Bulls
99 in 99: #91 Providence Friars
Believe it or not, the Providence Friars were actually a fun to team to watch last season. Not because they scored a lot of points, because they played ZERO defense and other Big East teams had a field day running up and down the floor on them. Our 99 team college basketball previews in 99 days continues with the Friars who certainly had their share of issues this … [Read more...] about 99 in 99: #91 Providence Friars
99 in 99: #98 Rutgers Scarlet Knights
The college football season is right around the corner as camps are opening all across the country. So what better time to start our team-by-team college basketball previews. Yes, college BASKETBALL. The season is still well over three months from tipping off but I have a Brett Favre-sized itch and dammit, I am going to scratch it. I will be ranking the top 99 teams in … [Read more...] about 99 in 99: #98 Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Big East Tournament Predictions
By: David Kay I love Big East basketball so much that when the time comes that I am lucky enough to find a wonderful woman to marry; my bachelor party will be held in New York City the weekend of the Big East Tournament. While my friends are out stealing a famous person’s tiger, eloping with strippers, and trying to pull their teeth out with a wrench; I will contently sit … [Read more...] about Big East Tournament Predictions
