NFL Draft’s Most Intriguing Team: New England Patriots

patriots-cheerleader

The lockout has already had an impact on this year’s NFL Draft. Unless it gets resolved by a week from Thursday, this season means teams can only trade draft picks for picks, not picks for players. Which is especially interesting for the New England Patriots, the team that goes out of their EVERY season to trade down and acquire more picks.

Every year, they’re a fun team to watch on draft day. In 2011, even more so, because they amazing have three picks in the top 33!

Glaring Examples of Belichick Being Horribly Out-coached Sunday

The New York Jets probably have better talent than the New England Patriots, but during the NFL regular season it certainly didn’t seem that way. The Jets upset the Pats Sunday because they out-coached Bill Belichick and his staff. Period. As much of a genius as I usually regard the hooide to be; he looked like kind of a moron Sunday night.

NFL Films Shows Bill Belichick Actually Not That Boring After All

belichick

When it comes to press conferences, they don’t get more boring, mundane and lacking in entertainment than the head of the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick. Although Lovie Smith and Jay Cutler of the Chicago Bears are pretty bad too.

If you haven’t seen NFL Films Sound FX Bill Belichick, I highly implore you to do so! You’ll see BB has a personality after all; at least with his players. He swears (not Rex Ryan level, but some cursing nonetheless), talks shop about cars and trucks with his players and spends time with his son. You’ll see that he’s human after all; not a Darth Sweatshirt.

NFL Apples Fall Way Far From the Bill Belichick Coaching Tree

belichick

Ever have an article/blog in your head for the longest time, but never had the time/proper situation to sit down, type it out and publish it? Ever since the epic fail of Charlie Weiss at Notre Dame, and his termination in South Bend, I’ve thought about how all the mentees of New England Patriots living legend Head Coach Bill Belichick, and how they’ve all deteriorated upon leaving BB’s side in Foxboro.

I even brought this up over a month ago on my weekly radio show when the Denver Broncos failed Josh McDaniels.

Now that the Cleveland Browns have canned Eric Mangini (his second extremely brief stint in the NFL) it’s becoming extremely clear that it’s all about the Jedi Master, not the Padawan learners in these situations. The Patriots are actually the league’s only team without “Coordinators,” or at least the only team possessing no one with the title “Defensive Coordinator” and “Offensive Coordinator.” Perhaps that will keep other NFL teams from poaching their staff, and then watching those coaches fail.
