Former Oregon cheerleader Amanda Pflugrad leaves Fox Arizona for TCS (PHOTOS)

Former Oregon Ducks cheerleader Amanda Pflugrad was an internet media sensation a couple years ago. (See the pics in this post to understand why) And Amanda Pflugrad has parlayed that into a television media career. Her extreme hotness earned her a reporter/personality position for FOX Sports Arizona after graduating from Oregon. The bio on FOX’s websited describes her as a lifestyle reporter within the sports world, covering both the Arizona Cardinals, for example, while appearing with entertainment host Melissa Rivers for a “Style Showdown.”

Her role was named “Amanda in the City” as Pflugrad was a woman about town in the Phoenix area, where she focused her coverage on “charity events that both pro athletes and celebrities are involved with in the Valley.”

Now Amanda Pflugrad has a new gig.

Illini Win Over #18 Arizona State Feels Like Champaign Campaign

illini_cheerleader

With Illinois defeating the #18 Arizona State Sun Devils 17-14 tonight; and getting off to their first 3-0 start since 2001, it’s starting to feel quite a bit like that year. It was Illinois’ most recent Big Ten title season, but that’s not why it feels that way. The Fighting Illini have a long way to go to reach that Champaign Campaign plateau.

However, there are a few similarities. Start with our national day of remembrance last week for the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Throw in the 3-0 start coincidence, and the last win over a Pac-10 team coming in the ’01 season opener (at California 44-17), and it’s reminiscent a bit.

But the 2001 game this matches up with is the shootout win over a ranked Louisville team and Chris Redman. Both were early non-conference, first real test and the Illini pass with flying colors.

#22/#18 Arizona State Sun Devils vs. Illinois Fighting Illini: Brutally Honest Game Preview

Don’t Sleep on the Arizona State Sun Devils this College Football Season

One college football team likely to enter the national rankings this week is the Arizona State Sun Devils. Who announced their presence with authority Friday night in an exciting overtime victory over #21 Missouri. It was a spirited home night game as the team showed off their new intimidating black uniforms and helmets.

No more cartoonish logo, their “all in” with intimidation and a fresh new look. See their “Fear the Fork” marketing campaign. The fans were instructed to dress in all black too. ESPN (likely mistakenly) showed some fans in black face paint. (I guess they were going for the Al Jolson look?). And black in the summertime in the desert? Well, it was a night game.

#24 Arizona State Sun Devils: College Football 77 in 77

“It looks like heaven’s easier to get into than Arizona State,” said Ned Flanders in one of The Simpsons’ greatest lines. But I kid ASU, I kid the educational standards. We’re not here to discuss that; or the armies of ridiculous hotties that attend this party school of party schools. Hey, there’s a reason Tosh.O picked Tempe for the campus invasion. You can see from the cheerleader pics in this post, or the video here where all the hotties brutally make fun of the 90 year-old-man who invaded their tailgate, that the ASU ladies are as scorching as the July high temperatures on campus.

But enough of this silliness, let’s talk college football.

Wisconsin Beats ASU 20-19 Thanks to Valai’s Block

With their 20-19 win over Arizona State on Saturday, Wisconsin improved to 3-0 on the season for the seventh-consecutive year. The win also marked the 27th straight non-conference regular-season game they’ve won dating back to 2003. At home, Badger head coach Bret Bielema is undefeated against non-conference opponents, outscoring them by an average of 17.9 points. While Bielema was able to keep the streak alive with a win Saturday, it wasn’t as easy as history may have predicted.

In the first half, the Badgers displayed the same lackluster tackling efforts as they did in last week’s game against San Jose State. Granted, Arizona State has faster, shiftier players compared to San Jose State, but the Badgers made them look like Heisman candidates.
