Future Kentucky Wildcats Goodwin, Poythress dominate McDonald’s All-American game

Kentucky Wildcats fans have a lot to be excited about in the present, as they’re taking on their hated rival Louisville in the 2012 Final Four, but last night’s McDonald’s All-American Game also might have made UK fans think about the future for a bit.

Usually, you don’t think about next year’s recruiting class until the season is over. However, the way incoming UK freshmen Archie Goodwin and Alex Poythress performed in the exhibition brought thoughts of next year here already.

And perhaps it helped in the recruiting of Muhammad Shabazz? Who’s narrowed his college choices down to four.

Muhammad Leads West To McDonald’s All-American Game Win

 Sure, the McDonald’s All-American game is an exhibition; the outcome serving as a backstory to the talent on the court. But when the West team’s 25-point lead was cut to four in the final minutes, it became imperative to earn a win.
“We’re talking about the 24 best players in the country, not just 12 (on the West team),” said Gordy Kerkman, head coach of the West. “You really knew, it sort of felt good to be 24 up, but you never feel safe.”
