Michigan Wolverines Lineman Achieves All-American, Center Honors

Michigan Wolverines fifth year Center David Molk (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township HS, hey that’s close enough to SICA! Holla!) has been named recipient of the 2011 Rimington Trophy, announced during the ESPN College Football Award Show last night in Disney World.

Molk becomes the second Michigan player to win the Rimington Trophy, named after former Nebraska center and two-time All-American Dave Rimington. David Baas shared the award in 2004.

Preseason All-America Hoops Team Released; Buckeyes Sullinger Only Unanimous Choice

The Big Ten conference as a whole may take a step backward this college basketball season, but their star power will remain high this hoops season. The AP All-American preseason first team was released a few short hours ago, and the league made a very tremendous impact on that very short list.

Ohio State‘s Jared Sullinger was the only unanimous choice of the 65-member national media panel. The Badgers Jordan Taylor is the only senior.

Harrison Barnes of North Carolina, Terrence Jones of Kentucky and Jeremy Lamb of Connecticut, three sophomores, round out the rest of the team.

Iowa Hawkeyes DE Adrian Clayborn Named All-American

Iowa Hawkeyes senior defensive end Adrian Clayborn has been named a first-team all-American by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). It is the only college football All-America team that is voted on entirely by coaches.

Clayborn, a 6-4, 285-pounder from St. Louis, is the eighth Hawkeye player to ever make the elite AFCA all-America team. He is the fifth Kirk Ferentz coached Hawkeye to make the AFCA team. The others were PK Nate Kadeing and OL Robert Gallery (2003) and OL Eric Steinbach and TE Dallas Clark (2002).
