White Sox honoring Chicago Police for NATO Summit performance


NATO Summit weekend has come and gone from Chicago, and the pervasive police presence kept protest disturbances and incidents to a minimum. There was a lot of talk beforehand about how much the event would impact the lives of Chicagoans, about how much everything would be inconvienced, about all the security threats.

However, there were no major incidents, and just a bunch of arrests. No real civic unrest. And the Chicago White Sox are going to honor the CPD before their game versus the Twins.

NATO Leaders convening at Chicago Bears home field


The world is watching Chicago this weekend, but it’s not to see the 19-21 White Sox take on the 15-24 Cubs. Solider Field will host an event with worldwide interest and global implications, but it’s not the Bears vs. a rival NFC power for the chance to go to the Super Bowl.

On Sunday and Monday, President Barack Obama is home to host the NATO Summit 2012. (Complete with shoot-to-kill, no-fly-zone above the skies of Chicago). And Sunday night includes a working dinner with leaders of all the NATO nations at Soldier Field, home of the Bears. German Chancellor Angela Merkel will be here, along with British Prime Minister David Cameron, even Afghanistan U.S. installed puppet, uhm I mean sovereign president Hamid Karzai.

Chicago to have Shoot to Kill No Fly Zone during NATO Summit


Plans to keep residents and dignitaries ‘safe’ during the 2012 NATO Summit Chicago include a no-fly zone, with a shoot-to-kill warning for those who break the ban.

As CBS 2 reports, the US government is informing small plane pilots that if they enter the no-fly zone during the summit, they might be shot down. This is no joke.

It will be enforced for May 19 to May 21.
