When Skins receiver DeSean Jackson left Philadelphia, the rift with then Coach Chip Kelly made national headlines. So who’s the jerk in that situation? Or are they both jerks? Or is one of them actually a nice guy? Some people even think Chip Kelly is racist now due to, a few people but mostly DeSean Jackson.
Well, like the album name supplied by ’90s hair band Extreme, there are “3 sides to every story.” Those sides are one side, the other side, and then of course, the actual truth.
(Boomer Esiason on DeSean Jackson, during last night’s episode of NFL Monday QB on CBS Sports Network)
Boomer: “You know why Chip Kelly wanted to get rid of DeSean Jackson? You saw the laziness of him not scoring a touchdown when they really needed it in that game.”
Boom!
But no seriously, Washington hasn’t been to the Divisional round of the postseason since 2005, and they haven’t advanced beyond that round since 1991. It’s not all DeSean Jackson’s fault they couldn’t get past the Green Bay Packer, but as Boomer points out, Jackson did his part.
When it comes to NFL punditry, Esiason has a blunt style that’s unique and fresh. Boomer is a decent talking head/analyst because he doesn’t back down at all. He’s much brighter and more insightful than Phil Simms, to which he is frequently compared. His comments about Jackson here are reminiscent of what he said about another big name, big personality WR last year.
He called Percy Harvin a malcontent.
And last week Boomer totally ripped Aaron Rodgers. Go here to read what he said when he called A.A. Ron out.
Last night, however, Esiason gave Rodgers his props after he led the Pack to victory.
Boomer:
“Aaron Rodgers controlled the entire flow of the game from the middle of the second quarter on. He caught Washington with 12 men on the field with the quick snaps. When that started to take place, Washington was unable to substitute. What you saw was the Hall of Famer that he is taking over and completely running the game.”
