Cliff Alexander is ranked #2 overall in the 2014 college basketball recruiting class. He took in Illini Senior Day versus Nebraska this past March, and he is planning on visiting the Illini again today. He has a special relationship with Illini Coach Jon Groce, so Illinois made his cut today.
Cliff Alexander tweeted out the ten schools he is considering and DePaul made the cut too. So that’s two schools in state, and Cliff Alexander had a little more Big Ten flavor too: Michigan State and Indiana.
Tom Izzo, as well as Kentucky offered the 6-8, 240 pound four-man first; by his junior year. Both the Spartans and the Wildcats made the Alexander top ten list. The remaining teams are the Kansas Jayhawks, Arizona Wildcats, Louisville, Memphis and Baylor. Alexander currently balls for Curie High School on the southwest side of Chicago. The only player ranked ahead of Cliff Alexander is Whitney Young’s Jahil Okafor, on the west of Chi. Okafor is also considering the Illini.
