Arsene Wenger Apologizes for Shoving Official, Getting Sent Off

Arsenal are now back in second place, but still eight points off the top of the table following a hideous 2-1 victory over lowly Burnley. The home victory over the Clarets saw Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger lash out at the fourth member of the officiating crew, Anthony Taylor, and then get sent off. Referee Jon Moss evicted Wenger, who shoved Taylor on three separate occasions, off the pitch.

Wenger was angered (hey that rhymes, sort of) at a correct decision which awarded Burnley a penalty two minutes into extra time.

The Frenchman than had to watch, away from the touch line, as Alexis Sanchez was awarded a penalty, and converted it very late in stoppage time.

Wenger took an apologetic line when he faced the media (video is below)

“I saw it [the winning penalty] on television, I at least saw what happened,” Wenger said.

“I didn’t see a penalty from outside, but I should have kept my control and I apologize for that. [I should have] not said a word. I should have shut up.”
