White Sox Adam Dunn is rather bad at his job

May 28, 2013 By paulmbanks

Adam Dunn, who plays the position of Designated Hitter is hitting .159 for the Chicago White Sox this season. Kind of Orwellian doublespeak, a "DH" hitting .159. To his credit, he is on pace to hit about 40 home runs, and drive in about 90 runs. But is that worth $15,000,000 a season? Especially when you consider that he doesn't draw walks anymore. This is what Adam Dunn is, … [Read more...] about White Sox Adam Dunn is rather bad at his job

Cubs acquire reliever; may only lose 100 games this year! NOT 105!

May 28, 2013 By paulmbanks

The Chicago Cubs yesterday acquired some bullpen help in right-handed pitcher Alex Burnett. This extra arm in the pen should help the Cubs pitching staff tremendously. They may only lose 100 games this MLB season; not 105. Burnett was claimed off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles. … [Read more...] about Cubs acquire reliever; may only lose 100 games this year! Stl Cardinals Garcia may never be the same after surgery

May 23, 2013 By Jeff Trudeau

The Stl Cardinals have lost pitcher Jaime Garcia for the season because of a torn labrum in his left shoulder. The injury will require surgery and cost him the rest of 2013. The lefty starter originally felt pain in his shoulder during a start in the 2012 National League Divisional Series against the Washington Nationals. He pitched two innings before being pulled from the … [Read more...] about Stl Cardinals Garcia may never be the same after surgery

Jose Canseco crosses line from laughable to scary

May 22, 2013 By paulmbanks

Watching Jose Canseco melt down on Twitter used to be funny. Used to be. Canseco is "obvs a cray" as the kids would say in today's modern lingo. But Canseco craziness isn't as laughable now that he tweeted the name, phone number and picture of a woman who accused him of rape. What's with California sports personas tweeting about sexual assault and rape today? First, … [Read more...] about Jose Canseco crosses line from laughable to scary

Cubs claim scrub pitcher from Cardinals; SEASON SAVED!

May 21, 2013 By paulmbanks

The Chicago Cubs might lose 95 games this year. Who knows with this move today, maybe they'll only lose 90. Or maybe not. The Cubs claimed right-handed pitcher Eduardo Sanchez off waivers from the first place St. Louis Cardinals. Getting a cast off from the front-running Cardinals has got to help, right? To their credit, the Cubs aren't in last place. They're penultimate in … [Read more...] about Cubs claim scrub pitcher from Cardinals; SEASON SAVED!

Wing Nut wants to shoot Hillary Clinton in the Vagina

May 21, 2013 By paulmbanks

Sometimes Chicago Cubs fan and sometimes New York Yankees fan Hillary Clinton should definitely keep her vagina protected. Keep her vagina on high alert, because a far right wing nut job is looking to attack it. The former Senator and current Secretary of State is under fire over Benghazi from the right wing media machine. Faux Noise Channel has been wall to wall with … [Read more...] about Wing Nut wants to shoot Hillary Clinton in the Vagina

Chicago Cubs reactivate potential closer Kyuji Fujikawa

May 10, 2013 By paulmbanks

The Chicago Cubs currently have Kevin Gregg closing games for them. He's got five saves and a perfect zero ERA. Kyuji Fujikawa is probably the future though. Fujikawa was activated from the 15-day disabled list today. To make room, Rafael Dolis was demoted to Triple-A Iowa. … [Read more...] about Chicago Cubs reactivate potential closer Kyuji Fujikawa

Cubs top prospect actually named Rock Shoulders

May 3, 2013 By paulmbanks

The Chicago Cubs today named Kane County Cougars infielder Rock Shoulders the organization’s minor league player of the month. And Kane County Cougars aren't just hot forty-something-year-old women from Batavia. *cymbal crash* Yeah, have you seen my performance at The Laugh Factory Back to Rock Shoulders, not be confused with Rock Harder, Brock Landers or Dirk … [Read more...] about Cubs top prospect actually named Rock Shoulders

Jason Collins to Jackie Robinson analogies sort of work, sort of don’t

May 1, 2013 By paulmbanks

I wrote about the Jackie Robinson movie "42" 17 days ago: when it comes to social pioneering in sports, you’ll soon be hearing a lot of Jackie Robinson comparisons in the media. That’s because we’ll likely see the first ever openly gay athlete in the four major sports come out within the year. Early word is the NFL will be first, but the NHL may have fostered a more conducive … [Read more...] about Jason Collins to Jackie Robinson analogies sort of work, sort of don’t

New Nats reporter Julie Alexandria: routine Gatorade shower recipient (video)

April 27, 2013 By paulmbanks

Thursday was the first day of a brand new gig for MASN reporter Julie Alexandria. She received a Gatorade dousing that was meant for Washington Nationals (and former White Sox super-prospect) Gio Gonzalez. The Nationals' blanked the Cincinnati Reds last night, with Jordan Zimmermann's performance worthy of a potential Gatorade bath. However as you can see in the video below, … [Read more...] about New Nats reporter Julie Alexandria: routine Gatorade shower recipient (video)
