Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to Reportedly Start Training United Camp Early

How do you try to turn things around after a miserable season? How does one attempt to reverse the momentum of a campaign that ended on a massive downslide? You hit the ground running and you do it early, which apparently is the plan of Ole Gunnar Solsksjaer as he enters his first season full season as permanent Manchester United manager.

According to ESPN, Solskjaer plans an early training camp, which could commence as early as July 1. (So there you have it, the team could be back at it in just six weeks or so from now. The main reason for the early start?

Raheem Sterling Says He Supported Manchester United as a Boy

raheem sterling

Manchester City star Raheem Sterling, who enjoyed three productive years with Liverpool before moving to the Etihad in 2015, grew up a supporter of a different northwest England club. It was actually Manchester United, the chief rival of both the aforementioned clubs that the Jamaican born English international supported during his childhood.

Ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final against Watford, Sterling admitted he grew up a Red Devils fan, and he was at the 2007 FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium, where he saw MUFC fall to Chelsea. Sterling got his ticket via courtesy of gift from his school, and that memorable experience inspired Sterling to give back 12 years later.

Liverpool #1, Spurs #2 as England Dominates Global Power Rankings

Liverpool FC are looking very strong as they head into their all-England UEFA Champions League final versus Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid on June 1. at arch-rival Manchester United. Their fine form (third highest season point total in Premier League history/most points ever for a runner-up) has resulted in their retaining the top spot this week in Shaka Hislop’s global power rankings.

The table composed by the former goalkeeper and current ESPN FC pundit is a world order, but it’s all Europe this week, and almost every week. With both Euro finals being all-England match-ups, it’s no surprise that British sides dominate the list.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek Ruptures Achilles in Friendly, Out for Europa League Final

Chelsea had two objectives heading into last night’s 3-0 friendly win at the New England Revolution. The off-the-pitch goal was to raise some money for a great cause: non-profit organizations fighting the rising tide of AntiSemitism.

The match dubbed the “Final Whistle on Hate” did bring awareness to the issue, but  unfortunately, the attendance was dismal. The on-the-pitch goal was simple- stay healthy and avoid any major injuries ahead of the Europa League Final against Arsenal on the 29th. Well, this benchmark was certainly not met as Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek left the field unable to walk on his own power.

old-trafford-manchester-united

It was a very disappointing season for Manchester United, but these new jerseys certainly don’t disappoint. The new United kit was revealed today by Adidas (now re-pronounced as “ah-dee-dahs” these days for some reason) and it’s a sharp looking strip.

It’s simple yet effective; understated yet eye-catching. And it honors the 1998-99 treble winners, harkening back to the club’s glory days. The minutes of the goals scored by Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the final against Bayern Munich (90+1 and 90+3) are printed on the sleeve.

Persona non grata in the United Kingdom, Chelsea FC Owner Roman Abramovich has not seen his team play live and in person- until tonight.

Yes, it was just a friendly, and every competitive match for Chelsea this season except one (London derby Europa League Final versus Arsenal on the 29th) has been played, but hey, the Russian oligarch is finally in the house. Abramovich was on hand at Gillette Stadium for Chelsea’s charity match against the New England Revolution.

Addison Russell or GarPax: Who Would You Send Packing First?

addison russell

It’s a really tough question, and essentially it all boils down to a contest of what can arguably be classified as corporate crime/white collar crime versus allegedly criminally violent and utterly immoral acts. Chicago sports fans, who would jettison first- Chicago Cubs middle infielder Addison Russell or Chicago Bulls front office men, V.P. John Paxson and G.M. Gar Forman.

And you can vote below on Twitter, up until 8pm tonight. As of now, the voting is tightly contested, and it’s way too close to call who will be the “winner” (i.e. loser) when the polls closes.

Joel Glazer Reportedly Overrides Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Wish to Sell Anthony Martial

joel glazer

Manchester United fans certainly have a lot of angst for Joel Glazer, and the rest of the ownership family/group right now. It’s well deserved too as the club as been stuck in a major rut since Sir Alex Ferguson retired six years ago. United supporters aren’t big fans of non-football and instead business men like the Glazers and Executive Vice President Ed Woodward having such autonomy over the football decisions.

There’s certainly more grist for the mill now as multiple outlets report Joel Glazer overriding manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to sell Anthony Martial. The Frenchman has had another disappointing season, and an overall underwhelming career at Old Trafford, but the club wants him to stay.

Patrice Evra Believes Paul Pogba will Leave United this Summer

Paul Pogba is Manchester United’s all time record signing (£89.3 million in 2016), and the only member of this year’s side to land on the PFA Team of the Year. However, transfer rumors are consistently swirling, with Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane openly showing interest in acquiring him.

Pogba has made the interest mutual by earlier this season admitting his admiration for Real Madrid, and there has even been a report claiming that the midfielder will force his way out. The final straw could be the altercation the Frenchman had with United supporters after Sunday’s abysmal 2-0 defeat at home to already relegated Cardiff City. (see below)
