Miller Park Press Box

It’s a treat for the Sportsbank.net today as well as TSB’s resident Brewers Beat chick.  I’ll be taking the reigns for FoxSportsWisconsin.com and giving you all the latest from Row 1 of the Press Box at Miller Park.

If you like small blue birds, find me tweeting @MilwBrewersBeat and follow along with us that way. If you prefer I serve you your meat and potatoes on a silver platter, just keep logging on for player interviews and my reaction right here on the home page. Today’s preview of Cubs @ Brewers is now served. Bon Appetite!

Here at Miller Park, the roof is open and some passing clouds shouldn’t fool you. If the Brewers have anything to do with it, it will be bright for Game 3 as the Crew attempts to win the series against the Cubs.

Dave Bush has not been as sunny against Chicago. He takes the mound today with a 2-9 record and 5.43 ERA against the Baby Bears. This season, Bush toughed out two starts against the Cubs, posting an 0-1 record and 8.38 ERA.

Call it unfortunate scheduling or coincidence, but Bush faces-off against Ryan Dempster, who is 13-3 with a 2.67 ERA against the Crew. This year, he is 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA.

Milwaukee and Chicago’s lineups share something in common this series; both have a generous helping of rookies making an impact. For the Cubs, Starlin Castro, Tyler Colvin, Andrew Cashner and James Russell have all been helping the team’s struggling arms and offense over the last few weeks. For Milwaukee, John Axford, Zach Braddock, Kameron Loe and Jonathan Lucroy among others have been contributing. Some of these Cubs and Brewers rookies will also see some action today.

Former Cubbie Jim Edmonds gets his second consecutive start for Milwaukee, today in centerfield. However, if my tally serves me correctly, the Brewers are now 0-7 over his last seven starts. Ouch. Here’s to hoping that is sheer coincidence.

Pretty badass. You got to see a season first already: Dave Bush getting through the first inning without giving up a run or throwing 30 pitches.
