Without a doubt, the Cleveland Browns needed to upgrade their secondary this offseason. On day three they found a smart tough kid in Ibraheim Campbell, a Safety from Northwestern. The NU DB was one of the better finds for the Brownies, as it’s a very, very weak safety class.
NU Coach Pat Fitzgerald was on the NFL Network set, doing analyst work today when his own player got drafted.
The moment made for fantastic reality television.
Ibraheim Campbell, a fourth year starter at NU, is Philadelphia born and raised from Chestnut Hill Academy. Campbell had a very up and down career at Northwestern, as his fortunes rivaled those of the team in general. Ibraheim earned second-team All-Big Ten recognition from league coaches and honorable mention from the media his senior year.
He finished ranked tied for third in program history with 11 career interceptions and tied for fifth with 24 pass breakups. His strip of Notre Dame’s Cam McDaniel with 1:28 remaining set up Northwestern’s game-tying field goal that led to their upset at ND.
Fitz described Campbell as a “core four guy” so be ready for that Browns fans.
