Danica Patrick will head to Charlotte this weekend seeking to rebound from her abysmal performance last weekend at Kansas. It’s been an extremely rough 38 race season for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie, with her outing at Kansas City being the nadir.
“One Lap Downica” didn’t even survive one lap. She crashed halfway through the first lap, and finished 43rd. Out of 43 drivers.
Danica Patrick will make her third Sprint Cup start at Charlotte.
Danica Patrick gave her thoughts on this weekend’s race?
“I like Charlotte. It’s really nice for the crews because it’s a home race for them. They get to sleep in their own bed and a lot of their family and friends are there. It’s fun for me at Charlotte because a lot of the crews have young kids, so it’s fun to meet them and see them around the hauler during the race weekend.”
Many of her crew happen to be from the Queen City. Also colloquially known as “The Hornet’s Nest.”
As Patrick wraps up her disastrous rookie season in Cup, she gave her thoughts on the final six races of the season:
“What enters my mind when I think about this season and it coming to an end is not that I want it to just get over with. I want it to end well, that’s all,” Danica Patrick said.
“Even if you can just have one or two good races at the end of a season where it’s been up and down and a lot of down, and especially being a rookie season, that’s a good way to end…And I feel like we’ve fallen a little bit behind again. It’s hard. The Sprint Cup Series is hard. Everybody is pushing and everybody works so much and so hard that it’s just difficult. That’s what makes it so gratifying when you do well,” Danica Patrick concluded.
