After losing to Golden State Warriors in the 2015 NBA Finals, Cleveland Cavaliers will be desperate to go one better and claim the NBA title in the 2015-16 season. The NBA title that has eluded Cleveland for so long was within their grasp last season but they fell 4-2 to the Warriors, who claimed their fourth NBA championship success. This year, the people of Cleveland have high hopes for their side and who could blame them? With the likes of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving in the side, the Cavaliers will always be in with a chance of victory.
Not only is LeBron James the best basketball player currently playing in the NBA, he is arguably the greatest of all-time. The 11-time NBA All-Star played an instrumental role for Cleveland last season, guiding them to their first Eastern Conference title since 2007. While he oozes class, quality and confidence, he is often forced to ‘carry’ his team-mates along. James himself has described Cleveland as “The Grit Squad” due to their strong, physical style of play. Unlike James’ old team, Miami Heat, the Cavs grind matches out – although this is widely recognized as the sign of true champions.
However, that is not to say that Cleveland are a ‘one man team’. In fact, they are far from it. Kyrie Irving and Kevin Lowe were both selected for the All-Star team after impressing during the 2014-15 season. These two players, along with James, are instrumental in their success and could be the difference as Cleveland hunt their maiden NBA title. As the season draws ever closer, the Cavaliers are around 11/4 with betfair to go one better and win the NBA championship this season. If their top players maintain their form heading into the new campaign, they will certainly stand a good chance of success.
Cleveland will fancy their chances of finally getting their hands on the NBA trophy but will face stiff competition in the Eastern Conference. The Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks are both formidable opponents and could cause an upset if they face the Cavaliers in the playoff rounds. Meanwhile, an injury to LeBron James could be fatal to their postseason hopes – particularly if it is a prolonged issue.
