I LOVE that the jersey of Andre Hollins says “Dre Hollins” on the back. He needs to stay and earn his Doctorate at the University of Minnesota so it can later say: “Dr. Dre Hollins.” In addition to the best nameplate in all of college basketball, not in all of sports, that honor belongs to the NHL’s Miroslav Satan, Andre Hollins also has a fair amount of NBA Draft stock.
Here’s where we have Andre Hollins slotted in our 2015 NBA Mock Draft, not 2014 NBA mock draft.
The junior shooting guard’s sprained left ankle forced him to miss two games, one of which was a home loss to Northwestern. Last night the Golden Gophers avenged that defeat by returning the favor in Evanston.
Andre Hollins, the team’s leading scorer, and already among the top 25 in school history in scoring, was clearly not not himself though.
“I think mentally, when you come back from an injury, he needs to understand that it takes a while, but I thought he had a good game, 8 points, we’d like to get him more, but he showed some great leadership,” Minnesota Coach Richard Pitino said.
Northwestern’s JerShon Cobb talked about what a tough guard Andre Hollins is, and the best way to try and contain him: “beat him on the catch, he’s a great shooter, a great player, try to make everything tough for him,” Cobb said. Minnesota is 6-2 in conference when Andre Hollins scores in double figures.
