Tom Brady’s Wife Gisele Bundchen Becoming Premier Environmentalist

Gisele Bundchen is really much more than a pretty face; and ridiculously amazing body. The family woman and wife of New England Patriots superstar QB Tom Brady is probably the wealthiest and perhaps most recognizable supermodel of all time.

In the fall of 2009, she was designated Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). According to Forbes, she’s the highest-paid model in the world and the sixteenth richest woman in entertainment, brandishing an estimated $150 million net worth. The woman nicknamed “the Boobs from Brazil” is also a face (and a very attractive one at that) of global environmental action.

And now she, along with UNEP, is turning it up a notch.

The 2011 WED Legacy drive, launching on May 10 at UNEP Champions of the Earth event in New York City, will feature an exciting, high-profile challenge between Goodwill Ambassadors Don Cheadle and Gisele Bundchen.

Full of goodwill, Gisele will pledge to plant one tree for every activity registered in her name.

Full of confidence, Don Cheadle will up the ante with a pledge for two. On June 5th, with help from the global WED community, the winner will plant a new forest and leave the perfect WED Legacy for the UN International Year of Forests.

UNEP’s flagship event, World Environment Day (WED) is June 5th. This day is targeted to be the global people’s day for positive action and demonstrates how individual actions can create an exponential impact.

In 2010, they launched the WED Legacy Project. The goal?

To get as many individuals and organizations as possible to identify an activity or pledge an action and register on the site to build a global WED community and make a significant contribution in the host country.

The result?

They pledged $10 for every registration, and the community came through, contributing over $100,000 to gorilla protection in Rwanda.
