Did Tottenham tweet a subtle slam at their own boss Tim Sherwood?

Despite what Tim Sherwood has maintained publicly, most of the media believe that his dismissal is indeed imminent. Tottenham Hotspur will likely sack Sherwood at the end of the season, if you agree with widely held beliefs. Of course, noting is official as of yet. Which makes this tweet sent by the Spurs official account all the more puzzling and unintentionally funny.

In a simple tweet linking a game preview, Eurosport spotted that the customisable link had “saqme” at the end of it. Just an accidental coincidence? Or taking a tongue-in-cheek jab at the expense of Tim Sherwood?

Erm, guys, we’re aware that those URLs can be customised RT @SpursOfficial: Tim Sherwood previews Sunday’s match: https://bit.ly/1saqme1

Given the very recent social media slip-up by Tottenham, tweeting their joy in watching Liverpool collapse versus Crystal Palace, you would expect the Spurs official account to be extra cautious and playing it conservative right now.  ICYMI, the “saqme” portion of the tweet’s URL is what’s caught the attention of a lot of media outlets. “saqme= sack me.” Again could be just coincidence with the random characters picked up by Bitly.   Eurosport had some fun with it. And the original tweet from the Spurs account remains in place unchanged from almost 24 hours ago.

Frank de Boer has been strongly rumored to be Tim Sherwood’s successor. Although the Times said today Mauricio Pochettino is the new favorite. Since replacing Andre Villas-Boas in December, Sherwood has had great results versus the mid table and lower clubs but also put in very poor performances against the top teams.
