Tottenham Hotspur Manager Mauricio Pochettino maintains that his team is Paris Saint-Germain, colloquially known as PSG. His criteria is the time that he spent there as a player, 2001-2003, in which he ascended to the role of captain. Pochettino expressed his affinity for the ruling oligarchs of the French Ligue 1 in an interview with SFR.
“I try to watch all I can. And of course, PSG,” Pochettino said. “My team is PSG — I love PSG. I spent nearly three years there.
“I spent some time, six months, with Bordeaux too but I was captain at PSG and that will always be special for me.”
PSG will take on Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, and the interviewer asked the Argentine who he was pulling for. You can guess what his answer was.
Pochettino said: “Of course, PSG! It will be a good game. Maybe I would like to go to Paris to watch the game — it will be a fantastic game.”
Pochettino is committed to staying with the north London side long term, but there are many within the PSG community hoping that he will eventually become the boss in Paris some day.
