Tottenham Hotspur did not win the 2015-16 Premier League title; obviously. However, they did accomplish a top four finish and a berth in the UEFA Champions League during a very memorable and overall stellar season. Spurs remained the final challenger to Leicester City for the title, and put together a campaign that exceeded all expectations.

Looking ahead to next year, THFC will only see their brand value and brand awareness further increase.

Every year, consultancy firm Brand Finance conducts a unique study, calculating the brand value of the world’s leading football clubs. The results are published in the Brand Finance Football 50, and Tottenham Hotspur came in tenth today, just like they did in last year’s edition. However, they did see a very substantial 23% increase in brand value over last year ($360m to $441m).

According to Brand Finance’s press release relating to the study, “The new Premier League broadcasting deal saw the rights to the next three seasons’ games divided between Sky and BT Sport for over £5.1 billion, a 71% increase on the previous period, boosting the brand values of all premier leagues clubs.”

Manchester United topped the list, just like they did last year (more on that here). In addition to United and Spurs, four other Premier League clubs, riding the wave of that aforementioned TV deal financial windfall, cracked the top ten.

They include Manchester City (4th, same as last year at $905m), Arsenal (6th, up from 7th at $858m), Chelsea (8th, done from 5th at $776m), Liverpool (9th, down one slot from last year, $558m). Additionally, eight more Premier league clubs cracked the top 25. Let’s give credit to the word brand itself, for how far its come- a one time business school term, which then became a buzzword, now today resides in our everyday lexicon.
