After today’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at home, Real Madrid Manager Zinedine Zidane deemed the London rematch between the two teams in two weeks time to be the UEFA Champions League Group H “final.”
It is very possible, given the current standings, the winner of the group will in fact be determined in that match.
Right now both Real and Tottenham have seven points, and a 7-2 goals scored-goals against.
“Now there is a return game at Wembley and we will go there to try and win it,” Zidane said in his post match news conference.
“We will see how the next game goes. The three points we did not get here, we will try and get them at Wembley, which is now a game like a final. It is not their home pitch, and we will try and go there and win the game. If we play away as we did in Dortmund, we will be happy.”
The two sides will meet November 1 at Wembley Stadium, Tottenham’s temporary home while White Hart Lane is being renovated. As of now, the two sides look like locks to advance to the knockout round, as Apoel FC and Borussia Dortmund will battle to see who gets the re-assigned to Europa League slot.
Tottenham scored first today when Harry Kane pressure led to a Raphael Varane own goal. Cristiano Ronaldo would later equalize.
