Tottenham Hotspur will have yet another injury concern when they head to Dean Court and face AFC Bournemouth in Premier League competition this Saturday. Central defender Jan Vertonghen missed the defeat at the hands of West Ham last weekend, but returned for the midweek 1-0 loss to his former club Ajax in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal clash.
The Belgian international suffered a sickening clash of heads with teammate and fellow centre back Toby Alderweireld in the first half, but was worryingly permitted to play on for another minute or so, before concussion protocol forced him to the sidelines.
He is out for the weekend clash with the Cherries. Elsewhere Harry Winks could be done for the rest of the season, as he elected to have surgery to repair his injured groin. Unless Spurs may it to the UCL final, and the odds are strongly against them doing so, you most likely won’t see him again until 2019-20. Face of the franchise Harry Kane is definitely out until next season while defender Serge Aurier is a strong doubt due to his hamstring issue that has left him sidelined for some time.
Finally, winger Erik Lamela is another long term injury absentee who is a major doubt for this one. He faces a race against kickoff to overcome his thigh injury.
