Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction vs Newcastle United

Tottenham Hotspur lead the all-time series against Newcastle United, having won 12 more of the previous meetings. Spurs have claimed the last four meetings, but the last Toon triumph was extremely memorable. On the final day of the 2015-16 season, Spurs had recently been eliminated from the league title race, by arch-rivals Chelsea, and 5000-1 shot Leicester City claimed the big prize.

They pretty much phoned in the finale, and the 5-1 loss to the Magpies made sure they also missed out on runner-up status, with Arsenal leapfrogging them into second place. Getting surpassed by their north London rivals just made the sting even sharper.

  1. Ndombele is out with a minor injury. Vertonghen – for whatever reason? – may not play. It is highly likely that Son will start after serving his suspension. Other than that this is about right. I would hope that Spurs could score more than two against a struggling Newcastle but a 2-0 win would be satisfactory.
