Liverpool FC host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday in a renewal of a series that has been dominated by the Reds. In the history of this fixture, the Anfield outfit has 83 wins to Spurs’ 48; with 42 previous meetings ending in stalemate. Liverpool will come into the match especially motivated, having just dropped their first points of the season, against their hated rivals Manchester United, no less.
Tottenham’s road form has been brutal lately, so most people are expecting this match to end in Liverpool’s fourth straight win in this series. It appears that this Tottenham side, in its current incarnation, has peaked and some roster revamp is badly needed.
Club chairman Daniel Levy made a huge mistake in not signing off on the departures of the players who really wanted to go, and now you have some uncomfortable situations that are holding the team back. Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen want out, wanted out, and should be gone come summer time, if not January.
So we probably won’t be picking any of the trio in our Tottenham Hotspur starting XI projection.
