Tottenham Hotspur got the preseason training camp started in style, as day one brought some major news- the club announcing contract extensions for Harry Winks and Ben Davies at the same time.
The current European runners-up have done a fantastic job in recent years of locking down their core nucleus and key pieces to long term deals, and this is yet another such example as both players are now inked until 2024. Davies, who has been in and out of the first team at the left back position, joined Tottenham from Swansea City five years ago and has featured 168 times for Spurs.

“I am obviously delighted to sign here for the next five years,” Davies is quoted by club media resources.
“It is one that I have worked really hard for to put myself in the position to stay at this club for the next few years and I am delighted to be here.”
As for midfielder Harry Winks, he joined the club’s youth system when he was just five. Yes, you read that correctly. Both Winks and Davies have been undergone surgery to repair an injured groin muscle in 2019. Davies had surgery last month and hopes to be fit the 2019-2020 season.
Winks had the procedure in April and recovered in time to feature in the UCL final loss to Liverpool in Madrid.
“I have been at the club since I was five so when I got the opportunity to sign a new contract, it was a no-brainer,” Winks said.
“It’s a contract, like Ben, I have worked hard for. It’s been a great season last year so to sign a new contract, I am delighted, I’m really happy.”
