Tottenham Hotspur currently reside in fifth place following today’s goalless draw with Chelsea. They’re in the thick of it regarding the race for a top four spot and a Champions League berth. Some pundits believe they are in the title race right now. You can certainly make a case for that, but I still think it’s going to take one or two more roster tweaks to get them there.
Perhaps another striker to help out Harry Kane and take some of the pressure to score off him? Whatever moves Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino makes, he should do them in the next transfer window; which will open a month from now.
Here’s the Tottenham related transfer rumors making the rounds in Sunday’s tabloids. Remember these are more for entertainment purposes than they are for news value. At least right now.
“Bordeaux star Henri Saivet was watched by the likes of Everton, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Swansea and Bournemouth as his side played Liverpool in the Europa League,” claims the Sunday Mirror.
Spurs are probably the biggest club in that bunch so perhaps they’ll have the inside track.
“Newcastle are planning a £10 million January raid for Tottenham outcast Andros Townsend,” reports the Sunday Sun. Obviously, this is all about addition by subtraction, as White Hart Lane needs to resolve the Townsend situation at some point.
Tottenham are ready to offer Andros Townsend plus cash in a £25 million bid for West Brom striker Saido Berahino, claims the Daily Star on Sunday.
Tottenham are leading the race for Morecambe’s £2 million-rated forward Tom Barkhuizen, claims the Sunday People.
