CIES Football Observatory released their annual list of the most valuable players in Europe, and Tottenham Hotspur Football Club claimed both the #1 and #2 positions in the Premier league. The list, which we must remind you is about as much of an inexact science as you can find, is based purely on their calculated transfer value in the current market.
Young budding superstar Dele Alli comes in first among current players on British clubs, with a perceived value of 155.1 million Euro ($173.9m).
His teammate Harry Kane checks in right behind him with a stated value of 153.6 million Euro ($173.2m). Spurs also claim the last spot in the top ten which belongs to Eric Dier.
While Spurs claim three of the top ten most valuable players in England, no other club had even two.
Of course, any commodity, yes, even professional football players, are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them in real life, so keep that in mind.
Over the coming months, as it is now summer transfer window silly season, you’ll hear some of these players linked with moves away from their current clubs, and the price tags that surface in those transfer rumor stories will be outrageous; even more so than the astronomical numbers that we saw last summer.
Here is the full top ten, led by Dele Alli, listed below:
