Tottenham Hotspur are considering a bid for Galatasaray’s Wesley Sneijder after missing out on Andrea Pirlo according to Sports Direct News. White Hart Lane had set their sights on Juventus veteran Pirlo but the Italian international is set to sign a new contract extension with the Serie A title holders which has led to the North London club setting their sights on 29 year old playmaker Sneijder.
Former Real Madrid and Inter Milan player Sneijder has been linked with a move away from Turkish giants Galatasaray for some months but given that his side are through to the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, he probably wouldn’t leave this month.
A move for Sneijder is possibly more likely at the end of the European football season and even then Champions League qualification may have to be a pre-requisite for his destination. So obviously how the London side fairs the rest of the season will have an impact on where Sneijder goes. He had shown interest in Manchester United too. Right around Chrsitmastime reports in Turkey suggested that United will return for Sneijder in January having missed out with a £6m bid for the 29-year-old over the summer.
The Red Devils were rumored to be offering up to £12m for Sneijder – who has also been linked with Chelsea – in the upcoming transfer window. But they would rather give Galatasaray players instead of cash.
